Gavin Whyte

I think he’s quality. We’ll be lucky to hang on to him. Maybe his absence today was genuine but wouldn’t be surprised if he is going. Bloody hope not
MAYBE his absence was genuine?! Despite it being mentioned at the begin of the week as a way to ease him back gradually after his season was extended with international games? And the fact that he was at the ground modeling the new away kit?!

Gavin Whyte won’t play against QPR because he’s been given an extra week off due to his exertions for NI - er, that happened at the tmstart of ore-season, right? Hasn’t he already played minutes against in other friendlies?

Hmmm, that doesn’t make sense. Either he’s injured or all is not well.

Seriously? The lad hasn't stopped after his travels with NI and this is part of his individualised preseason plan, give your head a wobble he isn't going anywhere unless it's silly money.

Yeah but clubs say crap like that sometimes when it ain’t true. Funny how illnesses, injuries sometimes occur right before a player is off ;-)
I know the club can do no wrong in your eyes but they don’t always tell the 100% truth.

As for “easing him back in gradually” that’s already happened. I think that’s where the speculation comes from. That and the fact that I don’t think any of us would be surprised if it were announced he’s signed for a championship side.

Maybe that was what KR was talking about when he said about players he thought were out of our reach were back on?
Maybe the reason for all this delay is we’re wait for Whyte to leave before we can sign even better players than we were looking at?

I had no idea he was at the ground today. Didn’t even see the new kit until I looked online.
But just because he was modelling it don’t mean jack. John Lundstram was the main face of our 2017/18 kit launch mid July but by the 25th he was gone.

Anyway my point was even if the absence is genuine. I have no idea. I would not be surprised if he was off.

They’re seriously taking the p*ss at £1.5m. I’d value Whyte at £3m plus and as it’s Cardiff I’d stick £2m on the price for Nelson and ask for £5m for Whyte.

Not surprising that clubs like Cardiff are in for him, he is a class act and that would be the right sort of step up for him if he were to go.

I’d also put him at £3 mill plus sell ons etc.

I’ve got no issue if we sell him at a decent price and reinvest a sensible proportion. That is the model and it makes sense.

Interesting to see the reaction on here if he does go for under £2 mill. Also interesting to see how Tiger plays this if cast iron bids come in.

Used to be the model, under Apples and Eales. We havent been told what the model is now.

In today's market Whyte is easily worth 4m+.
It is also important to note we have the European Championships next summer and should Northern Ireland qualify his value could rocket being in the shop window on that kind of stage.

I hope the board hold their nerve and allow Robinson to have him for 1 more season.

Absolutely no chance he’s worth £4-5m given his contract and Oxford’s transfer history. Biggest question here is whether but any funds will be reinvested as the players are there for the right investment.

Shame Karl is too busy playing Football Manager and looking at crap Premier league loans.

Blatantly being left out of the team whilst we wait for a team to pay our valuation.

Hopefully its sorted soon.

Was you at the game tonight Kip? If so, did you see Gavin on the bench before the game? He was sat with Mark Sykes whilst Robbo was talking to Scott Parker. You could have taken the opportunity to talk with him if you were, ask him if there had been any contact, find out what his intentions were.

Because, guess what? I was at the game, I did see Gavin and I did ask him those questions. He laughed the whole thing off! He said that he hadn't been made aware of any offer, and did expect anything in the coming days. He said that he was still training but didn't want to rush his return just yet. He expects to be playing Saturday and is sure he'll play against Sunderland. He came across as someone who is very happy at Oxford and was chilled about the whole thing.

Now, of course he could be just saying all of that. But I'd rather believe him than some miserable little troll who never has a good word about anyone or anything at the club!

As I said earlier Scotchers at the game tonight heard Gav and Mark were there also heard the bid from the Taffs has been accepted again from someone who does hear the right things but like me he hopes it’s BS, also hear Marcus Browne at the game tonight as he’s been released by Weat Ham and a 250k has been agreed, but just what I heard and nothing made up by me.

A bid hasn't been accepted for Gavin. Browne was certainly there and I would guess that a deal could be pulled together fairly quickly. I don't know the fee, but he was here with full agreement of West Ham so you would imagine that a fee has been agreed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Browne coming in as a striker. He played up top last season and sees himself as more of a striker/no.10 than a winger.

Regarding Whyte it’s what was doing the rounds I’m certainly not ITK but picked it up from someone who has been pretty accurate not always but sometimes

Your person is wrong this time.
Hopefully but I’m just doinf what others do on here and post
Rumours they’ve heard although I have known for a while that Cadden was a season long loan

He may not be worth that but he’s worth that to us & unless a club are willing to match our asking price we not interested in selling, we’ll still have to pay a decent % to his previous club,

theres no excuses why Cardiff can’t pay what we want with the parachute payments they’ve got

Marcus Browne would be a great investment there no dealt we’d make good money on him long term
