National News Boris or Jeremy?

Who would you want as the next PM?

  • Total voters
    34
  • Poll closed .
Why be a member of a Political Party and not vote in its leadership contest? It can't be for the membership discounts.

Wasn`t compulsory to vote, although 87% isn`t to be sniffed at.
I don`t think those who voted for Hunt will be asking for a re-run. ?

rumours , unconfirmed as yet, abounding on social media, that since Johnson announced as PM , 3 government ministers have tendered their resignations

Read it carefully.............. Blair lied about "serving a full term". Subtle difference..............
Politicians, the vast majority of em ... the way to tell if theyre lying is generally when their mouths are moving and words coming out

They will be shitting themselves as Boris wants brexit, unfortunately at any cost but they will slap him and he will thump them he won’t take any s**t.
The threat of a no deal should bring the EU back to the table and re-negotiate.
Yes, we are an important part of European trade. But really, who do you think will feel the effects more if we leave without a deal? The people of this country (note: NOT the politicians, bankers etc!) or the people of the other countries of the EU? And if you think that Boris' approach - long on the bluster, short on any actual detail or proposals - will somehow have the EU scrambling back to the table you are going to be sadly disappointed.

It is a decent turnout but I don't get the logic of not voting if you've actively made the effort to be a member of a political party. Unless of course those members have died off since renewing their membership given the average age of a Tory member. :)

and what did Johnson have to say at the time @bazzer9461 ? ..... Johnson is a proven hypocrite ....

Give Boris a chance @Sarge he’s only been prime minister for less than an hour, first of all he has to sort us disabled out first then the tax cuts, then the pay raise sea for our armed forces, them the pay rises for our NHS workers, then raise the minimum wage allowance, then raise or decrease corporate tax then threaten Iran over their illegal act in the Straights of Hormuz, so ask me again in just over an hour.

I found it tough to pick, so maybe those who didn't vote didn't know who to vote for?

Their take on it.

How many magic money trees has Johnson got access to for that?

dont hold your breath for any of the above @bazzer9461 .... apart from perhaps launching military action against Iran, politicians like a good conflict to deflect attention for the serious mess (that theyve got) the country into :cautious:

Looking at the positives, Johnson is probably the only person who can keep us in the EU and keep the Brexit types onside while doing it.

He kicks the Ayatollah’s a**e and he will be in power for at least 2 terms of parliament

⚠Trigger warning ⚠

Judging by the wailing on social media, it's a popular appointment in the echo chamber ? ? ? . With a bigger percent of turn out than the Lib Dems yesterday, the mandate is there from the Tory party and Johnson to get on with Brexit as he outlined- no 52/48 nonsense thankfully.

No excuses for Brexiteers in the Tory party now. They got what they wanted and need to deliver.

Buckle up kids, it's going to be a fun 100 days! So far, the sky hasn't fallen in or plagues of locusts haven'y flown in, so not all bad.

As an aside, there was a big contrast in seeing BoJo the Clown talk vs the Maybot. It's been a long time since having a political leader who has ebullience, and isn't a charisma vacuum. If the Titanic is going down, let's have a nice party while it's happening ?

Its hot enough today without any need to get hot(ter) under the collar about the election/appointment/ imposition of a new PM... 100 days (as @Gary Baldi mentioned above) to see if Johnson will (this time) stick to his word, or not

Enjoy the sunshine while its here I say
