Maybe he is the permanent winger?
Robinson was relating that to a bid weve just made rather than a bid a few weeks ago.Sounds more like Browne when youve read the post about Browne now being allowed to leave .

As much as we're all getting, well a few, worked up with Karl and his 48 hour media comments and anything else he might say about our transfer/recruitment activity I would like to point out.......... NO ONE ELSE AT THE CLUB (Chairman or MD) have stood up and took any responsibility.

Pretty much the same as last season, hiding behind a guy who is the only person actually communicating with a growing, disgruntled, fanbase.

Starting to feel sorry for KR again.
Very good point and so so true - This season could and should have been better planned, I’m looking at the top of the pyramid on this one!!!

Imagine if we got Browne, Cadden, Evans and a great CB... there would be a few servings of humble pie eaten on here!!
Imagine doesn,t cut it though does it, the facts are that we are short in some key areas with a few weeks to go b4 the big kick off, surely it,s human nature for fans to be a bit worried, it is very much like last close season, i,m not imagining that am I.

Did you moan at your parents from the 1st of December that you didnt have any Christmas presents when you were a child?
To slightly amend, if it got to 2 weeks before Christmas and i havent bought any presents, despite telling my family im going for it this year, and i then end up in Argos on Xmas eve, the likelihood of me panic buying Elizabeth Duke increases, and the chances of a xmas morning disappointment likewise. As opposed to buying presents id spent months planning as i promised id do this year.

Its not close to xmas eve though is it!

Am I the only one not arsed about Browne returning? Bar a good spell midway through the season, I didn't think he was all that.

9 goals and 5 assists in 44 games, but "he wasn't all that". Turn it up. He was equal second in the golden boot for the club last season.

It's one thing to be solid at the back, but you can't take 3 points with 0-0 scorelines. It's my opinion that our striking options are more important that our CB conundrum, particularly given that it seems like we have more irons in the fire regarding CBs than Strikers.

I'm not being funny but what do you expect? Tiger to tell us how he's been googling left footed centre backs? NMW giving his assessment on strikers?

Our managerial structure is what we have. Robinson is more than happy being the figurehead of the club and will bring in the players as they become available. It worked in January, and it will work this summer. Tiger has and will continue to back him financially, and that's all that matters.

As for a growing, disgruntled fan base? We have the same negative posters moaning during this transfer window as we have moaned in every other transfer window before, and every one to come. That's hardly reflective of our fan base as a whole and will all be forgotten once the season starts with the standard of players we will bring in.
Never has a poster been so persistently confident in declaring his own subjective assessments as if they were fact.

How do you know Karl is happy with that?
How have you assessed that the fan base isn’t ever more disgruntled?
Why do you think it worked last year when half the season was written off?
How do you know she standard of players we will bring in and that we will all forget?
How do you know Tiger will back him financially? Didn’t we hear it’s a reduced budget this season?

It’s all very well moaning about negative posters and there’s certainly a few unreasonable ones. But being binary at the other end of the scale with nothing to support it is equally tiresome

Findlay out of the equation. Although the quote from Robinson suggests we never formally bid in the first place.

Patience from the fans appears to be the key message as the “big 48hrs” turns into a repeat of last summer. Lessons obviously not learnt!

Also Findlay has 2 years left on his contract so you would always have to pay top money, which for us was never likely in my opinion.

Clearly we have a budget that is being worked to and we are therefore being gazumped n the market. Robinson is looking for the best players he can get and guess what other clubs are looking for them too.

Lower league football finances are generally perilous . Suggest this season will
be a turning point for players wages outside the top 2 leagues.

Centre back is a key position and can’t be a loan. No wonder it is taking so long.

Agree with Btadders that it all seems to be left to Robinson. Actually reckon the club is not gassing too much, not compared to last season.

Some of the posts on this thread are bovine,

But KR will talk anyway, it’s what he does. They ask him not to mention specific things and he does anyway! He’s a media man, it’s where he’ll end up.

It is a key position and I find it incredible that we didn’t (it appears) have a short list of prospective targets to move on as soon as the transfer window opened. It was pretty obvious to everyone CN wasn’t going to be here next season yet our management team are still on the look out in mid July.

It’s a vital position as has been said and needed to be brought in ASAP to gel with the back four and Eastwood. Ok it could all resolve itself before the end of this ‘big week’ but equally it could continue to run closer to the start of the season.

I have to agree. Maybe we’ve been chasing Findlay all summer and we’ve finally had to admit defeat leaving us looking for an alternative relatively late? The positive is that they’ve found an alternative and bid money. In the past we would have signed Guthrie, this year we looking for better. Fingers crossed we’ll get the deal done.

How do I know Robinson is happy in his role? I spoke with him at the end of last year when we had all the financial issues. He said that as manager it was his job to be the figurehead, to support all aspects of the club from going to u18 games, talking to staff in the ticket office, looking at new players and talking to the media. He saw himself in the mould of someone like Ferguson who had a handle on everything from top to bottom. He said that it was knackering but that's what he loved.

As for the disgruntled fan base? I speak with large numbers of fans who are not on the forum. All are desperate for new signings, but most recognise that the transfer window is chaotic and know that we won't get everyone we're after. All can't wait for the start of the season and expect that we will be competitive when it matters. Aside from the usual posters on here, I genuinely don't feel that the wider fan group is any more disgruntled or negative than before.

I said that our transfer process worked well in January and had some successes in the summer. This shows that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with our recruitment.

How do I know about the standard of players we will bring in, or the financial support being offered by Tiger? Look at who we've got already and those we are being linked too. We are competing with the likes of Sunderland and although we won't waste money we certainly are not doing anything on the cheap.

You are able to make your own judgement on whether posts are overly positive or negative. However, I am confident that my positivity will prove to be valid once the window closes and we can see the business done in it's entirety.
