Game of Thrones - WARNING, CONTAINS SPOILERS

The last episode made up for the shoddy few before. It was still rushed though like missing out John's capture after killing Dany. Disappointed we never got to see Arya change her face!

After Jon and Tyrian, who both commited treason, Bran is probably the rightful king.

It is odd how Greyworm simply allowed total strangers to choose a king. But I suppose they are trained to obey and not rule.

Some of it felt contrived, but they managed to get most stuff done correctly and close some threads down. Considering I'd heard some warnings about the dire ending, it really wasn't that at all.

My only guess on Grey Work is he that he knew he couldn't have much say as he has no skin in the game in Westeros.

Finally. Peter Dinklage was superb in that episode.

Theres quite a number of band members who have had cameo roles in the 8 series' of g o t.... including (oxford band) foals!
I'd buy Yannis staging an assault on a castle stronghold to be honest ?

I thought it was......fine.

The mistakes were made earlier in the season. And the one before. Frankly, the big mistake was HBO agreeing with the showrunners that they could finish it off in 13 episodes rather than the 3 full seasons that it really needed to coherently finish the story. Leaving us with a show of six seasons of deliberate, steady pacing followed by a mad rush to the finish that cut a bunch of corners and frequently failed to make sense.
As a result, I think it ends up on the second tier of great TV shows - not up there with the likes of The Wire, Sopranos & Breaking Bad...…

I thought the Jon/Dany/Drogon scene was very well done, and the first ten minutes of Tyrion & Jon surveying the devastation and Dany addressing her armies was excellent. No complaints about the final scene either - the Starks were always at the centre of the show, so it made sense to focus on their journeys.

The 6/7 Kingdoms Kingsmoot scene felt a bit, well, arbitrary as did the decision to go with Bran (Tyrion gets one last piece of oratory, and then everyone except Sansa shrugs and goes "Sure, Why not?") but I did like the way they laughed down Sam's democracy idea.

Eh well, time to move on and find something else to watch and discuss at too much length on Monday mornings...….

Considering two other great series , Lost and Battlestar Galactica, had very contrived and convoluted endings, I thought the GoT ending was pretty coherent. It probably peaked in series six as most people seem to say.
Personally I’d put it above the Wire but below West Wing. As for Breaking Bad I couldn’t get past series one, the rest is upstairs gathering dust, all a question of different tastes I guess.

Personally think that GoT has always been a cut above both Lost and Battlestar Galactica.
Lost was great at setting up mysteries without a clue how to pay them off; Battlestar (to me) was relentlessly dark and too often just went for the 'God did it' solution over and above coherent plotting.
Although I will confess that I missed large chunks of both shows because I didn't love them that much...….

Breaking Bad was definitely hard to watch at times. But as a bleak character study about the evolution of a villain, it was generally thoroughly believable, tightly written and beautifully acted.

The Wire I still believe is the greatest TV show ever, so we'll have to agree to disagree on that one!

GoT was better than the Wire - I love the Wire, but it went a bit mental at times in a worse way than GoT did. But it's really rating an 8.1 over an 8.0 out of 10 sort of thing.

I see a lot nerd rage still going on over the internet, heave knows why. Fans pretty much got what they wanted from this season, in a roundabout way. Cleganebowl, the Night King. Cersei died, Dany went mental, etc etc. GRRM would not have been so kind.

I hated it for so many reasons that I can’t be bothered to write.

I also hate myself for being so disappointed at an TV episode. I’m supposed to be an adult.

I gave up expecting anything top quality mid way through the series, so I just enjoyed it for what it was. Flawed, lazy writing with some great visuals, music and acting. It needed more time, but that was off the cards because D&D wanted to ruin Star Wars.

Did anyone else think "The North chooses to be an independent kingdom like it has for thousands of years" was a pisstake on Brexit?
