Today’s OM:

‘Robinson is looking for a right back, a left-sided centre back, two holding midfield players and up to four attackers before the window shuts at the start of September.’

I wonder if only targeting the one CB is dependent on Nelson staying?

:rolleyes: No Robbo we don’t need to waste wages in this position, I can understand if you want to get Kashi in but don’t need anyone else

No inside knowledge here but Jake Bidwell has been released by QPR. Quality left back, was awesome for Brentford a few seasons ago and only 26!! Not sure why he’s been released (out of form, injured, moving up?) but would be a terrific signing...
But would he want to sign as cover for Ruffles?

Bolton’s Mark Beevers is an out of contract left sided centre half who has played for Karl Robinson
at MK Dons. Wages at Bolton are rumoured to be £8k per week and Posh interested.

Dickie and Beevers ?

I was wondering about that remark as well esp. since we have Baptiste coming back on stream and I recall KR saying that he had to let Armani Little go because the midfield was already well staffed and Little would struggle to climb the pecking order.

It is possible that KR sees Hanson as the only holding midfielder currently at the club: he won't include Kashi, and he may see Brannagan and Baptiste as more attacking players. I think Mous will be holding midfield/CB back-up only.

I think that Little was being referred to as an attacking midfield player and was competing with Baptiste, Sykes, Henry.
It does seem a little odd that we would need 2 plus Hanson though.

You do also have to question where bringing in two holding midfielders and a rb leaves Hanson though..?

He has stated in his interview that he wants 2 new DMs; Hanson, Mousinho, Brannagan, Baptiste aside. I agree that Mousinho, Brannagan and Baptiste will be preferred for other roles but KR's comments suggest that Hanson is well down the pecking order at RB and DM.

reckon Tiger thought he was buying James Hanson the striker instead of Jamie Hanson the rb/midfielder

Leaving the striking options to the end was inferred, to me that seems a little odd, you would have thought that if you are looking at necessity, this is where you would be looking to secure first. Goal scorers are snapped up pretty fast normally, unless he is thinking that we will be bringing strikers in on loan. I assume he already knew about the Nelson and Kashi situation well in advance.

To me this says more about Mousinho.

I would suspect Mousinho will remain for a further year, step in if needed and cover CB whilst doing coaching. Not too dissimilar from Shearer.

Brannagan came in as an advanced midfielder but has been used a box to box player, Baptiste is similar. Sykes I see more in Henry's role which would leave only Hanson in the squad as a DM. Adding two may be excessive, however one experienced and one younger could be an option.

This does leave a question mark over Henry for me as we have a few that could fill his role.

If someone makes an offer, would you take it? 30 in June, has a year remaining on his deal

This is where I think I’d rather KR kept quiet. Just do the job and sign players, we don’t want to be told targets, and where to strengthen! We as fans are knowledgeable enough to know where we need to be stronger and improve.

I really hope James Henry is part of our squad for next season. His goals were key last season and if last season demonstrated anything that we need options so as to rest players/have options off the bench.

Also, one thing that Gavin Whyte has shown is that Mark Sykes is unlikely to be playing every game.

I cant see why it's a problem?
He is just being upfront and telking us what positions and timings he is aiming for.
I agree that he shouldn't be too specific but on the striker/ wide men maybe he is setting expectations ...

We don’t want a situation like last season when we missed out on the (so called) Tom Eaves, Eion Doyle, Lyle Taylor etc & then chased Sam Smith all summer waiting till the very end expecting this could be a decent signing only to find out he was a big disappointment
