Fan's View - Fleetwood away

Only reason the jury might be out on KR is if he hasn't been backed with funds, which afaik is a matter for guesswork. He's completely failed to recruit a balanced squad over the summer, took an age to find a team that hides the biggest faults (exc striker, obvs) and I'm not impressed by his tactics.

If the management weren't entirely inept they'd have a succession plan in place, as m'learned friend says above, and they would have replaced him in time for a new manager to prepare (aided by the mighty scouting organisation) for January.

Double fails all round.
Exactly. If Robinson HAS been given the money (we really don’t know, do we?) then his recruitment has been poor. It’s not been a disaster (Whyte, Graham, etc and I think Sykes looks promising) but he’s made some big c*ck-ups (signing Holmes and the other crocks, and thinking Obika nd Smith were good enough strikers for league one). As PC says, let’s hope there’s a succession plan, because it’s too late to start crying foul with 6 weeks of the season to go and us embedded in the relegation zone. And let’s not forget: WE ARE NOW.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we turned over Pompey. But then , I am an optimist.

Y'know, Master, I was thinking along the same lines. If KR plays his only best team (Mou in front of CBs, CMs at LB & RB and the old bakery wagon up front) and Pompey play the expansive game, we can beat them and our lads play their hearts out we can beat them.

As far as I am concerned the jury is still out on Robinson. We are still in the relegation zone and we have a lot of difficult games to come. Yes he might get us to safety- but who put us in the shyte in the first place. I am still waiting to see Do we really NEED three good wingers when we are so short of firepower up front? There are hints that his hands may be tied financially and he has been restricted by this. But so have a lot of other managers and they have done a lot better.
I will wait and see what happens. But so far I am not overly impressed and Robinson is going to have to do a lot better to win me round.
I am surprised the jury is still out on him he seems unable to control himself on the touchline. He has brought and wasted money on his players who havent performed and we are in the relegation places having lost to bradford wimbledon and plymouth this season. I'm not sure what the man has to do for the jury to convict robinson, these are his players and his tactics.

Well we know KR said he has never spent so much money before in the last transfer window

Yeah, but I don't think that evidence is admissable: Hanson was his big buy then he wasn't, he waited all August for Smith or Smith was a last-minute scramble, trips that don't happen, strikers in 48 hours, and more. I've reached the point where I disregard and disdain his comments, whatever they are.

Didn't some one on radox post match phone in claim KR had said Smith wasn't one of his signings? .. I mayve misheard what was said on rad ox though!

Yeah, I thought I'd read it on the forum as well, Sarge. Apart from my range of fantasy ITK contacts those are my only sources.

Lucky I don't have twitter or the other one or it seems I, being credulous, would be accusing KR of being a boggle-eyed, child-molesting scatophage remainer.

Yes they did and that KR had said only two signings were his. Who knows what's what anymore, we just have to give the team as much support as we can

for me robinson's recruitment in the summer is at the root of the problems now. for what it's worth i think robinson has actually done a good job of dealing with a lopsided and depleted squad and getting some performances from it, but when the problem he's dealing with is entirely of his own making, how much sympathy can you have?

Smith was very much his man, his comments back that up. Smith also had a decent pre season for Reading. He then was like a kid in a sweet shop with his budget and when certain players came up, think Holmes, Browne and Carruthers, he could resist getting them in.

He then had the problem of finding a workable formation to fit all those players in. This leaving Smith as the lone striker ( a role we all found out he couldn’t play ) and when Obika got injured, we were left with where we are now..

I’d say these next few weeks if the window are massive for him as without investment up front, we will be going down.

Don’t know about Smith but Robinson definitely said that he didn’t sign Hanson. It was in a rant after a home defeat earlier in the season, possibly the Luton match?

I get the feeling that Robinson is implying that yes he was given a competitive budget for player recruitment, but some of the players brought in were not his signings. I don’t know if that’s true but it wouldn’t totally surprise me.

I’m beginning to suspect Thanakarnjanasuth has decided himself or taken advice from outside the club on more than one signing that Robinson was not 100% in agreement with.

Again guess work on my part. But what are fans meant to think when Robinson makes claims that certain players are not his signings?

If we assume Robinson is telling the truth and they’re not his signings, then who’s scouting or recommending these players and who’s signings are they?

That's a feasible overview on potentially what 'we're'not being informed about (re players incoming) @Yellow River ..... lack of information does lead to speculation

Some players have performed though. And are still doing so. We do have some quality. It's the lopsidedness of the squad and blatant lack of a proper striker that's the main issue as we all know. At times Marcus Browne, Gavin Whyte, Ricky Holmes and on Saturday Jordan Graham have been a joy to watch.
I'm not pro-Robinson (or anti at this moment) but it would be unfair to deny he has had some bad luck with injuries to Samir Carruthers, Robbie Hall, and Shandon Baptiste (twice).
And if he's not the one bringing the players in then he desereves a lot more sympathy than he's getting. That's a big IF - but I have no evidence one way or the other. I don't know who or what to believe.
His failure to control himself on the touchline is much more of an issue when we're not winning. Much less mention of it when we went on that unbeaten run.
Worrying times.
