Fiacre Kelleher

The compensation was awarded in November.... hang on..... you don't think that was the unexpected bill that meant we couldn't pay HMRC?!:LOL::LOL:
If it was I'd be surprised. I thought HMRC got paid before anybody else?

That has to be one of the most unnecessarily incomprehensible articles I've ever read. The "reporter" refers to clubs in so many different ways, it is difficult to understand what the hell he is talking about.
The Hoops - I know this is Celtic
Blue Toon - in context I assume this is Peterhead.
Buchan team - ditto
Balmoor outfit - Peterhead?
Granite City - why not just say Aberdeen!?

Then again, I guess we are not the target audience.

Sol Campbell’s post match report, after a 2-0 win, with a defence including Kelleher.

"We controlled the game and we absorbed the pressure. The backline and the goalkeeper were immense for us."

I hope Oxford Utd haven’t written him off, playing under Campbell might mean we end up with quite a player on our hands

Why would they have written him off?
He is out for experience and if he does well under Campbell he could get in the squad next season.

I wasn’t sure when his contract finishes. Is he still contracted to us next season?

Don't think so, he joined on a two year deal at the time Mapp was rumoured to be leaving, so it looks like his contract expires this summer. But perhaps the club have an option clause written into his contract?

It would be a shame if we don’t get to benefit from his time at Macclesfield

Chance to see him in action at Cheltenham Sat 26th Jan, now that our Accrington game has been moved. I'm going.

Does anyone actually know how / why this compensation was due?
Is it because it was an 'international transfer' so under different rules to for instance the Curtis Nelson compensation?
Is it is also due to the age of the player?
Did OUFC sign Kelleher from Celtic, or was he out of contract?

Myles's FIFA quotation on the HMRC thread was that 5% of a transfer fee gets distributed to clubs involved in training and development. Is this on all transfers, so if for instance a player we 'developed', then released or sold without a sell on clause gets sold, do we get development compensation? As others have said, do we get something for having players on loan to us?
