Sol Campbell

Shame it takes a club in such a desperate situation for the man to be given a chance. I hope he does well.

Well, that's one of the two relegation slots confirmed then....

Interesting to note that this brings the number of BAME managers to 8 out of 92 - which is a lot higher than it used to be:
  • Chris Hughton (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  • Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolves)
  • Jos Luhukay (Sheffield Wednesday)
  • Darren Moore (West Bromwich Albion)
  • Chris Powell (Southend United)
  • Keith Curle (Northampton Town)
  • Dino Maamria (Stevenage)
  • Sol Campbell (Macclesfield Town)

Refresh my memory what does the me bit of bame mean

Macclesfield must be out of their minds, Campbell has bleated on about if he was white he would have been England captain for 10 years and that he has not been given a chance due to the colour of his skin, which is complete garbage ! blimey he even thought he could be selected and stand for Mayor of London not that long ago.

Still he is " one of the greatest minds in football" just hope the players up their game as being beaten by that 'massive chip' that Campbell carries on his shoulders could get painful.

A crackpot with a chip on his shoulder and if it does not go well he will play the race card!

They are the worst team in the league but he’s the greatest mind in football, what could possibly go wrong?

EFL basement side , without Campbell officially in charge, picked up 3 pts AWAY last night, beating Exeter 1-0 .....even the lowest club in EFL can win away in the league (so why can't OUFC?)

Let's be honest, if we were to play away at Macclesfield Saturday we'd somehow manage to not win it.

Not sure why there’s quite so much vitriol being aimed towards him on here and other places online.

His comments about being a big football brain were ridiculous. However, it was also said when he was looking at clubs such as ours that he should start lower down the pyramid.

He has done so and now has an opportunity to prove his managerial worth. If it works out, great. If it doesn’t , he’ll join the long-list of managerial appointments who don’t work out.

I for one am pleased to see a BME appointment in the Football League and wish him all the best. Yes he’s arrogant, yes supports a political party I’m not keen on, yes he says stupid things... but despite all that I wouldn’t wish him any ill feeling.

(Unless we’re playing his team of course, in which case I expect nothing less than giving his club a thumping!)

I’m not sure the likes of Gerrard or Lampard would have considered rocking up at Macclesfield to start their managerial careers. The fact that he’s prepared to start at the bottom certainly earns some respect from me. Good luck to him.

The problem is that (whatever the colour of his skin or his ethnic background) Campbell is a bit of a pillock, going by his Twitter posts. That doesn't mean I wish him any ill (and I can't see that much vitriol on this thread TBH), and well done to him for thinking he can make a go of what looks like an unappealing first managerial job.

Surely any club should just appoint the best person for the job. If they turn that person down because of some outdated bigotry then more fool them!
