We used to do a "full or half mission" years ago! Started out from the Prince of Wales in Iffley village, walk along the Isis (not the Thames tsk!) into the city and onto all the good places. Half mission would last probably most of a day, full could take up to 24 hours! At least once the mission was blessed by a defrocked vicar and more often than not, a stop for refreshments at the KFC on Cornmarket. Many were lost along the way and legends have sprung up from some of the stories told. Don't know how my liver is still intact! We did try and do one on bikes once but it was doomed from the outset!

We did a tour of all the old pubs in Oxford last summer, we did 12, great day and ended up in the rose and crown in north parade, why would you pay someone to show you round pubs?. I like going to different city’s in England and doing a pub crawl. Places like York and Nottingham are brilliant for that kind of thing.

On bikes! Love it ?
probably on bicycles was the only way to actually make it to see most/all bands playing ot the Nightshift magazine curated 'Oxford Punt' , certainly when the venues were split between town centre venues and Cowley road venues. Saying that, bicycle riding is probably not the best idea after a pint or three:oops::whistle:o_O

"London Road Tour"......... starting at the Standard then Britt, White Horse, through St Clements (was 5 or 6 pubs at the time?) .... then "Town" ........... messy days and nights!! :):)

like that idea.... start at the Britt ...where HUFC were formed, then visit sites of 'battles' during the 70s/80s ...is there some kind of sealed knot society that re-enact hooligan clashes I wonder?

Man after my own heart!

Before moving to the US three years ago, I also used to love a good random pub walk - used to be roughly a monthly occurence; My mates still do, although they're getting older and down to a couple a year.

Can't see why you'd want to pay 25 quid for the privilege of something that's more fun to put together yourself.
But have to say that the works of Bob Steel did give us some good inspiration:

Would have had the plasterers, coach and horses, Port Mahon, black horse hotel, half moon pub oxford on the corner of the plain. Good pubs back in their day and only one or two still trading these days.

Sadly there's too many pubs gone these days
