HMRC?

the one person NOT to contact via email regarding the latest apparent issue with HMRC is OUFC MD

likely responses:-
1) 'Hello, how nice to hear from you, thank you for your continued support of OUFC'
( no reference to any question in the response!)

2)' I'm sorry I don't have that information, I'll check on it and get back to you'
(then, subsequently doesn't 'get back' with the requested information)

3) NO reply whatsoever!
(despite inviting supporters to email him directly at both a fans Forum and Oxvox members open meeting)

with this current HMRC 'issue' apparently being the 2nd under the current regime, perhaps the recently appointed Head of Finance should consider having this (below) as his phone ringtone?

Hope you’re not expecting a response to this Sarge!!

Is Tim Davies actually 'fit for purpose'? how the f**k can a so-called financial director allow a SECOND HMRC winding-up order be served on OUFC in less than 12 months?

Tim, it appears, is actually NOT very nice and ...on the back of this own goal that HE has scored, EXTREMELY DIM too :rolleyes:o_O

With the time taken to do these sorts of things, I'd guess it was a legacy problem. Be interested to know the time period this is from.

Oops. To be honest, tax bills can quite easily get lost down the back of the sofa. No biggie.
Totally, alongside director appointment forms! Hell of a sofa

I don't believe he was even at the club back in March when the first order was issued. You now seem to assume that this is some sort of oversight, which it clearly isn't!! Whoever makes the decisions at the club has decided not to pay this and I very much doubt it was him!

he IS the finance director ... all £ decisions stop with him. Otherwise why bother having a director of finance?
AND after there being an 'oversight' in March Id hope that there would be enough information when he took over so not paying TAX (which we are all supposed to) wasnt an oversight a second time... except it is. Again. 8 months later . Once is an oversight, twice (in under a year) borders on incompetence

It feels like you're presuming too many things here. You don't know what kind of a workload he inherited when taking over the job under a month ago. Why do you expect him to have everything magically fixed in such a short space of time?

Would you be ripping into a manager for not completely transforming a squad in less than a month? I'd expect not. So why would it be different for any other employee?

If i didnt do my job as I should, Id expect to be rightly at least spoken to about it.... OUFC have a history (now) of not paying tax, head of finance is , in any company, ultimately responsible for financial matters, if he started today or had been in the job 60 years, HMRC , the tax collectors, dont and wont give any leeway, re UNPAID tax .... he, Tim Davies , IS financial director, ...if he cant cook best he leaves the kitchen I say ! OUFC are looking at a(nother) winding up order, fact is, the buck stops with Tim Davies OUFC Director of Finance. & in this case it seems quite a few 'bucks' have stopped with him, instead of paying OUFC's overdue tax bill

I would imagine that it is more deliberate than incompetence (As you suggest two oversights would be incompetence)
Hopefully it is 'simply' short term cash flow problems ...

Haha. I think "pay the tax" would be pretty high on his "Must Do" list.

If you do nothing else, pay your bills.

hope youre right @Foley ...that said, wasnt there a sizable influx of cash after the league cup match v Man City, that was un-budgeted for? .... wonder where that extra cash went, obviously not to the taxman !

You still don't KNOW what situation he inherited though. Maybe Tiger brought him saying words to the effect of 'Tim, our financial organisation is all to cock here, it'll take a while to sort out but you're the guy for the job. If HMRC come knocking don't be alarmed, I've got you in to sort out the mess I've created'.

Until the club, Tim or Tiger come out and say something, all your finger-pointing is based on little but ad-hoc reckon.

and you wonder why the club don't reply to your emails. they can read message boards you know.

ERR havent you seen that HMRC have a court hearing set for the winding up order
it doesnt do any good trying to play games with HMRC especially after one occouring already this year at OUFC
what I do KNOW is that a Director of Finance IS ultimately responsible for ALL matters involving finance , including paying tax bills to HMRC
OUFC havent paid tax on time, again, Tim Davies IS OUFC Director of Finance... maths never was my strong point, but adding the two facts 1) Tim Davies is OUFC Director of Finance 2) HMRC have issued a(nother) winding up order against OUFC , the second in 2018. ... I dont think Im a million miles off by pointing at Tim Davies ? ....... he probably needs a bagman/ assistant as you rightly point out , he hasnt been in the job too long, dont s'pose you could spare Robin to help Tim out on this one, could you @battman ? ;););)

Its only the MD who rudely doesnt reply to my emails ... Im not surprised HMRC have issued another winding up order against OUFC , maybe the tax wasnt paid because those tasked with it were, as you say @MarkG , too busy lurking on YF, instead of doing what they're paid to do ...including paying OUFC's TAX bills ?:unsure::unsure:
