Best pub to drink in Walsall

New street mate, then a short jaunt to the Bescot on the rattler

Pubs in Birmingham near new street worth a look - the Wellington, Post Office Vaults, Old Joint Stock, Old Contemptables... Im going from an ale perspective, by the way.

A couple of those are on our ale trail list. The Wellington opens at 10 o'clock. Just saying.

Yeah but how about near the ground though as I'm travelling from from Cornwall by train then meeting friends near the ground. By the way anyone remember that game in 83 I think when Rosie scored a screamer - was a great day out

Black Country Arms, centre of Walsall. Good beer, and decent food. Short hop on train to ground.

Agree with most above except for the railway which is a bit of a dive, the Wellington is close enough to new street. Pure craft bar is pretty decent for the craft beers but probably better post match. The briar rose wetherspoons is pretty well placed being between the sun on the hill and the Wellington.

Oh yes! That was when two groups of oxford ran across the pitch at each other, traded a couple of punches before realising they were scoring an own goal. And Rosie’s goal, absolute belter. 3-1 or 3-0? Can’t remember the exact score.

Strange how when we played there last season that Brum were at home to Derby, and they are again tomorrow

It was 1-0, that was the only goal of the game. Steve Hardwick also saved a penalty.

That was a Boxing Day Match I think
highlights from that one were on TV ...maybe MOTD?..... not sure if it was a boxing day match? , think it was closer to the end of the season(and promotion- Hardwick's pen save took us closer to promotion- if memory serves, and it sometimes doesn't- I was at that match, it was quite a 'lively ' awayday !)
