...I saw my first Oxford United game - a draw against Blackburn in the second tier.

I'd arrived in Oxford that lunchtime to move into my new accomodation, before starting my first job since graduating from Uni that summer. I got a message from my new landlord to say he'd been delayed and could I wait until later that evening before I moved in, which left me with a few hours to kill in the afternoon. So what better than a gentle stroll from Cowley Centre to Headington to watch the game - and the rest is now history

So Lawrenson had just walked after the "sale" of Dean Saunders and you had the Horton era ahead of you. But several years of (old) Division 2 football to look forward to.

I remember Colin Hendry playing for Blackburn that day - we should have won IIRC. Less than 7,000 at the game.

Pre-match drinks st the Shotover Arms in those days.

Was my first game 30 years ago a few weeks later on12/11/1988 Birmingham city 3-0.

I think Hendrey was the only player I recognised in the game

We always started the “Headington run” at the Shotty before going in every pub on the way down to Bogarts ?

My first game was 1969. Beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the Third Division in front of a crowd of nearly 13000.

Mine was 1982, 0-2 vs Southend. Last year was the 35th anniversary match, again 0-2 in Div 3. We haven’t got anywhere! But I’ve enjoyed it.

I'll be trumped by Malc, Bob S, oufcrealist and all the other diehards, but my first game was February 1959 against Lovell's Athletic.
Long forgotten now but they were essentially Newport County's reserve team in the days when Newport were two or three divisions above us.
We won the match, I was hooked, and in four months time that will be 60 years watching OUFC through thick and thin.

impressive @harringtonsghost .... I'm a mere youngster in comparison:) ...Easter 1961, home to Bath City was my first match... we lost... Me Dad and my uncle Pete took me to that one ..... a mere 57 and 'a bit' years for me, though me Dad is still a ST holder ...& me Uncle Pete (my ol mans elder brother) goes to some home and the occasional away games .... my mums younger brother, my uncle Rog is a ST holder, as are my Sis, and one of me nephews too... my mum was a ST holder too,.... until she died in 2011

A few highs balanced by a few more lows over the years supporting OUFC ...nonetheless I wouldn't change it for anything
