Considering moving to Non League ground

surely with just is it 7 years remaining? any chat would be academic given the timescale to find land and build a new stadium. Surely once our licence is up whatever happens re Covenant etc will have nothing to do with our club or am i missing something here?

Iirc, the licence automatically renews under existing terms at the end of the current term. I believe the covenant is attached directly to the land, rather than the club, but if we found an alternative then there are clearly ways around it. Iirc again, the covenant was a effectively a swap for the one that existed at the Manor but could be wrong.

Could somebody with a lot more intelligence than me join the dots to what is now known re: the stadium situation? I know there’s snippets regarding potential new sites and new directors/investors and there supposed intentions etc but with everything swirling around it’s all a bit confusing.

Not really.
The club and FK have fallen out big time (which goes back to the DE era).
It appears that the club are looking for alternatives and the MD suggested that it should be clearer around a month from the FF which is not that far away.
Oxvox are also suggesting that some 'interesting news should be announced soon.
So we should know more hopefully shortly ......

Still waiting for that interesting news.
Still some cloud over this apparent falling out, the money figures announced at the FF have been denounced by FK and Oxvox, there also seems some issue over the clubs interpretation being treated badly, is this problem the the club or individuals representing the club?

The last FF is actually becoming a ‘did that actually happen or did I dream it?!’ episode. The way Tiger, NM and KR came out against FK with all guns blazing led me to believe something major must be imminent, there was no going back from what was said. But now, several weeks on we seem to be at a stage where tentative feelers are being put out over a possibility of moving somewhere else and also the possibility of the license being renewed mooted?? I can’t believe the tone of that FF helped in any way whatsoever when it’s obvious we are still in the position of needing FKs cooperation no matter how difficult that is. It was certainly not the time nor place to throw toys out of the pram.

A very poorly thought out FF, alienating the landlord for no apparent gain, having the manager spouting off about his dislike of the stadium and saying the players don't like playing there (not sure that's true), this comment has along with his normal rants do not put him in a good light with the fans, he really should keep his nose out of the politics of the club. They need to fix the calculator.
I think the fallout will continue for a while, but bridges will have to be build behind the scenes. Hopefully in future everything is carried out in private and only announced when there is something to say of any substance, now we have new on hand directors maybe things will change for the better communication wise.

Give it 10 or so days and I suspect things will be as a suggested at the FF. The club did say it would take time for an announcement or two to be made, so it's not like they've welched on a deal.

I'm not entirely sure that the 'we are looking for other sites along with the council' wasn't the announcement so far as the stadium is concerned. I'm not quite sure what else they could say at the moment. They aren't going to name the sites, that's for sure, and it doesn't sound like our landlord is in the mood to compromise over the arbitration or to sell us the stadium for a reasonable price! It does say in OxVox's pretty informative summary that the make up of the new board will be announced - but the club isn't for sale so that probably won't be anything dramatic that we don't know about already. The new investors will be buying shares in OIH and there will be a new financial director of OUFC.

There is no automatic renewal of the Licence Agreement. The Club have an option to renew for another 20 years on the same terms. That, I would suggest, is not an option.

Can you imagine what state the Kassam will be in 26/7 years? People get tighter as they get older so f**k knows how bad Scrooge mcslum landlord will be.

No way, would prefer us to play at Cuttslowe Park that enter into another robbery of a tenancy agreement
I did say practical not preferred! If we were (for example) in the Championship by the time it came to the crunch, would you really want to drop down to effectively being a Sunday League side? I'd take the view that Kassam can't live forever and when he's popped his clogs who'd want to buy a football stadium with a sitting tenant....

@ZeroTheHero I suspect the Kassam Empire will be passed down to Feroza and/or FK's son in time, I don't think it'll be on the market in the scenario you paint above. Just my opinion.

As for the state of the Kassam Stadium in 27 years time....................................why not consider what it could be like in 2/3 years time, under a new arrangement/contract, with fourth stand and an ideology of how to increase the capacity further than that. Colin B (OXVOX) did a great bit of work last year for the Trust when he worked with an outside company who talked about how to amend the North Stand to a) bring it closer to the pitch whilst b) seeing the capacity increase.

Anyway...................we're still waiting for Niall McWilliams to tell the fanbase where these alternative five stadium options are, that he has up his sleeve. Can't wait.

Could be a very very long waite. No news is usually good news but this is OUFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Simon Bradders - oh I am sure he'll pass his empire down, but Kassam seems to have a pretty negative attitude towards the club (some of which may be justified?). You'd think - or at least hope - that any later owner might be a little more amenable and might even want to get rid of a crumbling 'asset'.

Does anybody actually believe that there are five viable stadium locations that are even vaguely likely to happen? Maybe I am cynical, but....

There are always locations for stadiums...................its the viability that is the issue.
Then factor in other development news such as the "Oxford-MK-Cambridge" expressway and lots of places that were way off the radar become a lot closer.
If you think of the footprint value of the ground, and that value is only going one way, buying it at £17 million even with a sitting tenant is a bargain.

Just off to look down the back of the sofa.................
