Ex Player Ex-Player Thread

He was. If you speak to players who played with him, so many cite his natural ability. Applying it was another matter.
By all accounts he had a girlfriend at the time who wasn’t too keen on him becoming a pro footballer and getting caught up in the usual mischief, and he was quite happy to sort of shrug and go “fair enough”. Just how it is sometimes. The amount of players who do it just because they happen to be good at it rather than enjoying it or being overly fussed about the sport is actually relatively high. So many players who are actually very good as it is but who would be truly great if they were really bothered about the game.

As evidenced by that excellent feature on Kemar Roofe and his amazing determination and drive. Working on his game, developing those areas where improvements were needed, visualising goals from watching repeated clips of other top-class strikers while getting mocked by those around you.

A lesson to all our players, but particularly our youth, there.

OUFC connections well represented in Brizzle City's win over Sheffield United yesterday: M Taylor, COD, Lundstrom & Marvin Johnson all featured. Baldock on the bench for the blades, alongside CJ Wilder of course. Jake Wright still on the books there?

Elsewhere, Dunkley played for Wigan as did Tyler Roberts who deputised for the injured Roofe at Leeds. Rothwell on the bench at Blackburn. Lego injured/suspended for PNE?

It makes you realize how many former U's players have ended up in the Championship. Mainly those considered as Appleton players...

Ex-manager to be precise....

Ian ATkins gets the boot from his scouting role at Villa

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...bers-technical-staff-Steve-Bruce-present.html

‘There had been differences of opinion during the summer over transfer targets, with Bruce favouring a certain style of experienced player while Atkins was eager to promote more youthful players from the continent.’

‘I’ve found you the perfect guy, Brucey. Young lad, Belgian, can leather the ball miles to the big man up front ...’

Tommy Mooney one that’s been purged too although I have to say I’ve never heard of a ‘loan manager’ before outside of commercial banking.

Oakthorpe Road!

Definitely worth getting him off our books. He must’ve been earning a fortune from us to live up in OX2.

Guided Wrexham to top of National league in his first job. One to keep an eye on perhaps?
