Robinson is a clown

I would be very concerned if there was a move to replace KR at present. It strikes me that the majority of teams we have played are pretty well established and developing, whereas we are almost starting from scratch after the Clotet fiasco. We have had to move on virtually an entire squad, supplementing the current staff with six loaners (I am happy to concede the ‘back up’ goalie situation is ridiculous, and KR is culpable in my view).
I hope KR is able to see out this year, develop his own team and build in u23 players. I’m not expecting a promotion push, neither am I anticipating a relegation slog.
Just off to Specsavers to get a new prescription for my rose-tinted spectacles.

No players in the bar after the match - just Tiger's entourage of "hangers on". Something not right up there. All the talk afterwards was that we are apparently looking at a parcel of land near Bicester. KR will be here all season - you wait & see.

This could make quite a lot of sense. Bicester has good rail links, is close to M40 and is being developed as a new 'garden city' so there will be real population growth. It's also cheap as chips when compared to a location within the Ring Road.

The Marketing Department could also sell VIP Bicester Village and OUFC Sporting Experience packages to the Chinese market.

Didn't Robinson say that after 4/5 weeks of the season we would be firing and no teams would want to be playing us? Didn't seem to bother Coventry much. Hopefully yesterday was a blip in the upward curve......

I hope for all our sakes that Robinson can save his job over the next 2-3 league games. For me the various worrying things about him come together in the signing of Jamie Mackie.
The guy is 33 this month and he was given a 2 year contract presumably on the strength of his 'greatest hits' clips, because his legs and his lungs have clearly gone. Let's have no more talk of "wait till he's fit"...he's a professional athlete (yes, really) and he should be totally match fit by now no question.
I don't blame Mackie himself, what fading pro would not want a nice 2 year gig like the one he's landed. It just shows terrible judgement and lack of perception on Robinson's part.

Let's hope he doesn't repeat this folly by signing Maynard!

It's panic - caused by missing out on summer targets. Perhaps he set his sights unrealistically high, wasn't persuasive enough or we didn't have the money to match the ambition. It's left us in the lurch though. I'd rather use Smith more and perhaps put Browne more centrally as well than sign another ageing, injured player.

In general I agree with what you're saying but his wage is determined by appearances so if he doesn't perform by a certain point then it won't be such a good deal for him.

Fancy naming any of these targets we missed out on?That doesn't include the last few of Hoolahan,Malumbu and Karacan.

Well since I am not in the know I cannot. But apparently we were going to do our business early, and had a list of names that was hugely impressive. Since neither of those things came to pass, I think it is a quite reasonable assumption. Unless you think that KR's aim was to have the current strike force of course! :) And I'd have said that the fact we are still looking at OOC players pretty much answers the question anyway!

The levels of ferocity in some of the comments from Oxford fans about KR that are now flying around on the internet are quite alarming. We’re almost reaching Kemp levels in some quarters. Is he really that bad? Or is he suffering from frustration already built up from the Clotet era or even from Tigers stewardship? Whatever it is we’re fast approaching the stage where he’ll lose support and be unable to turn the tide of opinion against him. He needs some good league 1 results fast.

If I was told we were going to start the season with Samir Carruthers, Ricky Holmes, Marcus Browne and Jamie Mackie I would have been very happy.

Those were the players who I knew, when Garbutt, Hanson and McMahon signed and I looked at their history I was also excited.

It has not worked...…….yet. It still might or more importantly it should work. The should is important, this will come down to Robinson, he's going to have to get people on side or get rid. If he doesn't then naturally his job will be under threat.

I'd say it has worked, but has worked inconsistently. The 4 games before Coventry we have looked from good to excellent. The components are already there for a good team. We have seen that good team in action. Now we need to develop consistency and mental rigidity.

It feels like the wheels fell off because of Coventry, but as mentioned above, we shouldn't forget the 4 games before when we've looked much much better.

If we take yesterday, Browne and Norman showed their inexperience. Frequently looking to go past player after player when there were opportunities to play a simple pass. Both appeared to be playing for the cameras at times, which is way KR probably said that some were not doing as they were told. Also, without Whyte it was easy for Cov to double up on Browne and kick lumps out of him. Henry and Holmes were much quieter than recently and it is hard to know why. Some players struggle with early kick offs as it disrupts pre-match meals and hydration, so it may have been a lack of energy but both were leggy. Mackie had little to no service but also appears to always find himself a yard or two away from chances. His luck will change and should come good in time.

Although the table doesn't lie, I have more faith in us getting results in time and I still think we have the makings of a decent league 1 side. KR is guilty of exaggerations and random statements, but it is clear that he cares and desperately wants to succeed. After some managers in recent years I think we could do a lot worse!

I think even KR will accept that his job is at risk.
Tiger's stated vision of OUFC being part of what the world perceives as "Oxford" is hardly going to happen when the team keeps losing and sits down at the bottom of League 1.

I can't see Thai Airlines putting that up as a reason to travel! Nor are Singha Beer going to be too pleased with the image being portrayed.
If KR doesn't get things going in the right direction, and soon, then he will be saying bye bye.

I’m not so sure. Both KR and Tiger have emphasised on several occasions about this being a long term project - I think Robinson said a three year plan or words to that effect. And so far I haven’t got a measure of Tiger at all, there doesn’t seem to be any clues as to how ruthless he’ll be if things don’t go to plan quickly.

Have to say what a fantastic job Robinson has done.
Talks absolute sense in every interview I’ve heard. Honest, driven and seems to know how to get a team organised and playing.

Well that didn’t last long!

Context! After months of Pep's post-match babble about "fokkus", Robinson came across a sage of footballing wisdom. Sadly, his audience is still patiently waiting for his actions to back up his words.

I’ve been defensive of Robinson so far but he’s becoming tiresome.

The latest public criticism of a junior player, who’s clearly low on confidence, is unacceptable. Robinson, I infer, believes himself to be a master man-manager, yet, when our on-loan keeper, fresh from the latest batch of non-support from his own fans, picks up the paper today, he will see that Karl believes in public humiliations.

Unbelievably poor man-management and my tide is turning.
