Daryl Eales has stepped down from his role with OUFC and has taken up with Solihull Motors.

Well, he stepped down early last year IMHO
I will thank you for the good times and not the sh*t you left us in...

Is he still a shareholder?

Probably, I am assuming that's why he never sold out to Sartori as he wanted to keep a wedge in shares as he knows the potential of OUFC and get well paid in the future should we make the promise land... All IMHO of course!

Stepped down from the Board so will have no further influence on how the club is run (although I'm not sure how much he retained anyway).

DE did a great job building the relationship between the fans and the club and implementing a strategy which ultimately got us promoted (i.e. scouting network and developing young players to resell). His best decision was undoubtedly the appointment of MAPP. However how much of the strategy was in fact MAPP's doing and how much of his appointment down to Ashton?

Either way, his legacy will always be tainted by a poor/prolonged hiring procedure last season leading to the cacophony of crap we endured under Pep. The team has still not recovered. Also, he never had the resources to push us beyond this level and ultimately failed with Firoz. I get the feeling he was looking for a way out from around the time MAPP left, and various takeovers (including Sartori) fell through.

A mixed bag

Good luck darren He alongside IL need great respect for what they have done for OUFC. Realistically challenging for promotion in League 1 is our level. Shame about Pep and that appointment, but many including those with links within the game said it was a good appointment and showed ambition. Carlisle away (was a great day out) and when he stood next to us at Walsall and we spoke in the Pub at Bolton are all good memories. TBH he was a football fan first without the deepest pockets he failed with Firoz and succeeded with many of the fans and of course that promotion season.

I appreciate his funding, although it should be noted that Ashton implemented everything that led to that promotion whilst DE took a back seat. It's a shame he overspent, sold out to the highest bidder, caused MAPP to leave, decimated the fantastic backroom staff setup we had throughout the whole club and ruined his good image. Tiger has been trying to fix a mess since arriving. Granted we are a league above but that's the only side of the club that's in a better position, a real shame.

Allows the possibility for an Appleton return. Which is a positive. Appleton would never have returned if Eales was still there.

I get the opinion he re-couped most of the £10Mill he put in and has dibs on future sales.
Sold a chunk of his shares to Tiger and now sits on a lottery ticket should OUFC numbers come in..
