EFL highlights no longer on C5

So long as the highlights still appear on skysports.com that's fine with me. Never saw the point in watching the sometime cringe-inducing Channel 5 effort.

Shame. Does Quest have a catch up service? Channel 5 had flaws, but it was at least easily accessible.

Plus, I used to be in charge of editing it on a Saturday night for upload online, was always the most fun part of my week.

Can imagine league one and two didn't take too long to edit - most games only have one camera!

Was even quicker than that. I was only taking the live show broadcast, and taking out the as breaks and competition segment!

But then once I'd uploaded it to all the platforms (iPhone app, games console apps, website, etc), I had to check that they all played through properly. Much more fun getting paid to watch the football through than when I had to do it for Big Brother or The Wright Stuff!

Be interesting to see who fronts the programme and whether they have regular and/or guest pundits. Pleased to see coverage is being maintained somewhere of the leagues under the Premiership as I can’t stomach Match of the Day these days.

Must be at least 4 years since I last watched match of the day, having zero interest in the plastic premiershit I just switch channels when it comes on..

I've heard that they've signed Colin Murray - oh joy!
Channel 5 had an odd mix of presenters/guests, not many of which really worked to be honest - dont like Murray, didnt particularly like thingy Hipgrave (though not as bad as she is when she's been on the radio), Virgo and some of the other ex-players that had on just looked uncomfortable in suits while Micky Gray and the glasses just didnt work either.
Probably my favourite was Caroline Barker who stood in when Murray couldnt be bothered who just seemed a bit more genuine than most of the others

Assuming you're at channel 5. I'm an editor myself - mainly for UEFA matches. Ought to have a chat before a game one time!

The main mistake that any FL highlights programme has is that they try to make it into a MOTD style programme.

MOTD covers 10 matches at most and can dedicate time to each to analyse things. FL programmes don’t - they cover a maximum of 36 games and most fans are really just tuning in for their team plus the bonus of seeing a bit more football action.

Just goals and key moments would suffice. We don’t need platitudes or analysis when that analysis is so watered down to accommodate the volume of games to cover.

On these programmes, any analysis of a particular team only serves to bring supporters of other teams slightly more up to date with events/news rather than offering anything of interest to supporters of that particular team.

Nah. I just do video on demand transcoding and uploading. Just had to do minor edits on live transmissions

And I'm based in London, so I don't tend to catch any home matches. But happy to DM!

She should be. She's a non league football ambassador. From Wikipedia:

A fan of her home-town club Chelmsford City, Barker has long been a supporter of non-league football. She is the presenter of The Non-League Football Show, which she created for London 94.9 in 2006, moving with it to 5 Live in 2012. She is a member of the Non-League Footballers Association and was a director at Chelmsford City from 2009 to 2011

She's also fantastic on Fighting Talk.

Totally agree - all I want is a show that has the goals & any other brief highlights then move onto the next game.... no analysis......
