Saturday Fanatics display

What happened to this? No flags at all on Saturday, no sign of any group. Where has people's money gone?

A wild guess.

It was far to short notice so will likely "carry over" to the next home game?

First game of the season will be the most notice they have all season

I was referring to the "go beg me" page and publicity thereof.

Didn`t know anything about it until the @OxVox posted it on here the Wednesday before a game on Saturday.

Which idea was that?

Less the idea per se but more in relation to the lack of "display" or explanation.
Now that was either due to lack of funds, lack of organisation or A N Other reason.
If groups are going to ask folk for money, and other official groups are willing to promote that, then people will ask questions.

My personal opinion is that the horse left the stable, ridden by the Ultras, after Mr Mixter left the door open.
Folk can rebrand the idea as much as they wish, but if the club has thrown the baby out with the corporate bathwater nobody will feel "welcome" to do the same.

If you are putting this on your "funding" page then you are expected to deliver or setting yourself up to fail.

"Last season we brought flags and displays back to Grenoble Road. Next seasons (sic) there will be an even larger presence, starting with the opening home game against Cambridge with a display."

Should have just stuck with the second sentence: "All money donated here will go towards new flags and wavers for the 2022/23 season."

But they have done in the past. Several good displays have been organised by the Fanatics. However, something has gone wrong this time and this is a cause for concern. @OxVox and @OUSP Secretary have been actively supporting the Fanatics and have assisted with club contacts. I would hope that both are seeking answers.

Half cooked, ill thought out ideas from the guy that needed shopping, went shopping, picked up everything he wanted, then flounced out empty handed because there was a self service checkout!!!

Fortunately, the world isn't as permanently angry as you and most can see the very good intentions of others. The Fanatics group have given up time and money to try to improve displays at the ground. They have asked for support with funding and two fan based volunteer groups (OxVox and OUSP) believe in them enough to promote the funding page.

Times are tough and maybe they were unable to raise sufficient funds in time for Saturday. Or maybe supply issues were behind them not being ready. I don't know, but I believe that they are trusted and will come good in time. If it isn't your thing then skip past without donating. No one will judge you for doing so.

But the constant need to look for a problem or create division with those trying to make our experiences better is beyond tiring.

So much for being kind!

A delay with delivery of new flags, and a hospital trip coincided on Saturday to scupper the plans. Looking forward to seeing the new display for the Lincoln match.
Apologies but I'm still a little confused and need some things clearing up. There is supposed to be a new group called the Fanatics to improve the matchday atmosphere,. After 2 months of raising money, nothing was delivered on Saturday as promised. Not delivering a bespoke display due to a late delivery is out of their control, so why were there no flags out at all? Where are the wavers and banners people have raised money for in the past? That could have a been an easy "display for Cambridge" as a bare minimum, a bit of colour in the stand would have been an easy start to the season without a special display.

So no flags on show, I guess there would be a decent contribution to the atmosphere to make amends, but there was no group, anywhere. 2 of us from the original Ultras group stood in the area they are supposed to be, but it was just us two who started every single first half song, if we didn't start something it was absolute silence. We were stood there to assist the new group but there seems to be nothing going on and no commitment to improving the atmosphere. For the first home game of the season, nothing seems to have developed over the summer to improve things this season, have the group disbanded and given up or are they only doing it at specific matches throughout the season?

I used to collect money for the Ultras displays, and I saw that as serious pressure to put something on especially seeing some sizable donations come in. If a bespoke display couldn't happen for any reason (it happens, I understand), I would make sure we can deliver the next best thing at the very least. It's a dangerous game to start taking fan donations for granted, we have a very generous fanbase so hopefully this is a one-off error.
