International News Covid-19 .....

Not sure anybody thinks it is 'fine'
What do you think should be done now EY?

People should be playing safe, get on a bus, go to a supermarket, etc pop a mask on & wash their hands.
Feel a bit rough - stay at home.
Get jabbed.
All down to individual circumstances and the like.
Noticeable increase in folk wearing masks etc in the South West can guarantee it will be different at home tomorrow.

That's not enough though. Played safe. Haven't been anywhere (I know, sad, consequence of working from home) for two weeks. I currently have it and Mrs QR recorded her first negative test yesterday. We can only have caught it from one of our children via school. Mrs QR was pretty ill but lucky it's no more than a sniffle* for me.

"All down to individual circumstances"..................

You have kids, they catch things and bring them home. That can be anything from D&V to Covid. 🤷‍♀️

Glad it was "just a bit of a sniffle" and hope Mrs QR is feeling better.

Kids off next week - numbers will fall. Hopefully we get a few more months of fun before GMB and BBC start their Christmas lockdown ratings campaign.

According to the ONS.....
  • In England, the estimated number of people testing positive for COVID-19 was 2,106,000 (95% credible interval: 1,987,200 to 2,234,800), equating to 3.86% of the population, or around 1 in 25 people.

I`m on the study, used to be done by people coming to the house but it's done by post now and you get £20 a go now.
Takes a couple of minutes to swab and pack then 5 minutes to walk to the priority postbox and 5 minutes home.
£20 for 12-15 minutes works out to about £80 an hour tax-free. :)

Well I finally succumbed to the evil second red line 16 days ago. I tested negative 7 days later and spent the following seven with significant fatigue and the constant need to sleep. Fortunately, this was my holiday week, oh lucky me! So, here we are at the beginning of week three with me having thought that I had recovered. It would seem not. I've still got a cough and still feel intermittently quite rough. Interestingly, I have had a mild cough throughout, but the quality of that seems to have worsened. It seems to me that this bloody virus has a mind of its own and has a kind of evolving quality. Has anyone had similar experiences? Thanks.

Fed up and fatalistic from West Oxfordshire!

Take it easy and recover properly. You need your immune system in top shape to get it clear, and stress is bad for your immune system.
I had recurring migraines for a month or two and still get the odd one where’s previously I’d get maybe 2 a year. (no pain luckily, just wacky visuals).

6 weeks later my daughter still had a barking cough. Referred to Asthma clinic (never had asthma before) for Covid induced asthma. 2 weeks on inhalers marginally helped only so referred to hospital for chest X-ray. Biggest b****r for her is she’s had to withdraw from London Marathon, before covid running 15 miles comfortably now just about manages 3.

Still have a nasty cough and quite a reduced lung capacity 8 weeks on.

Feeling of lethargy is still prominent along with what feels like inflammation of the sinuses.

Have days where it seems to be improving then suddenly a day or two where it feels like I have taken a few steps back and start to feel a bit flu like again.

Getting quite tired of this feeling of functioning at only 70% - 80%

Keep the faith and hope you recover fully.

I also succumbed to the dreaded lurgy for the first time about 6 weeks ago. I caught it at an indoor social gathering, I later found out that 5 or 6 other people also caught it at the same event. My last jab was back in December so I reckon my immunity was on the the wane?

A really bad sore throat followed by a couple of days when I didn’t feel at all well, very, very tired. Just wanted to lie down and go to sleep in the middle of the day, which is very unlike me. Had a very annoying chesty cough which lasted for about a month afterwards.

The jab will definitely have been on the wane for quite a while by then. Iirc, it starts to wane after 3 months but could be wrong.

The jab(s) help your natural antibody system and provide a level of resistance to getting it in the first place. That is the bit that "wanes".
If you are jabbed your immune system has a blueprint of what Covid broadly looks like and knows to fight it off.
As we are all unique the impact of getting it, or a variant of it, will range from very poorly to a "bit of a sniffle".

The combination of vaccination, immunity, good hygiene etc will eventually put Covid in the same bracket as Flu.

My top tips- High dose Vit D every day, wear a mask on a bus/supermarket etc, practice good hygiene, get jabbed - including boosters next month!

I reckon I had inflamed sinuses for close to 3 months, but they seem back to normal now (4 months). The inflamed sinuses seemed to correlate with migraines for me, which is a link I had never noticed before covid. Had a bit of tinnitus too but that might just be old age and too many metal concerts in my youth.

Had tinnitus for quite a few years and always managed to just get on with it, although certainly feel that it has ramped up a bit since the last bout of Covid. Seem to be noticing it a lot more during the day whereas it used to be causing most annoyance at night lying in bed ☹️.

As you say, issues of just getting older…
