Really good post, just wondering why its either Bodin or Henry ? Why not try and keep both ?
I just think they are very similar players, Bodin it seems a little quicker off the mark for me and also can actually score from freekicks. Why not both? With Taylor, Baldock, Bodin and Henry all over 30, I'd just prefer to see some of the younger attacking players given a chance. Henry has been one of the highest earners at the club and his wage along with Winnall and Hanson could really boost the squad numbers..

Having said that, of course I'd love both at the club.

@Shosho is there anyone in the national league we should be looking at, similar to how we signed Atkinson; we’re looking at Tomlinson from Eastleigh.

Would be interested on your view of Joe Gubbins from QPR was on loan at Southend. 6’3 left footed CB been playing in a back three (originally from Oxford)

with a change of Manager at MK , heralding a likely 'new broom' there ... maybe there's a couple of their squad who might end up playing for Oxford this coming season?

I haven’t watched a whole lot of non league - mainly watching Ireland and the EFL.

Interesting with Atkinson, a medical concern was flagged at Peterborough where he was due to transfer to (apparently), and as such was offered to Oxford due to Atkinson’s playing style. Pretty smart from the agent (who also represents Henry/Forde and Twine).

Tomlinson would have been ideal last season. Had a productive loan at Swindon, happy to pick up occasional minutes and a great left foot!

All I’ve heard re: non league and Oxford was that we had been watching Marcus Sablier. But then we will have watched many players!

Connor Lemonhaigh-Evans at Torquay is very much in the Mark Sykes mould, an attacking midfielder who scored a few. He’s also out of contract. Watched highlights of him many times this season plus watched him live once, and I think he could do a job in this division.

I thought so at the time, but while they both went on to have decent careers I dont think they were ever at a higher level than us.
Perfectly correct, the Beast showed he was a bit limited at L2 level and went on to play for Wrexham in the Conference but no higher, pace was an issue.

Matt Green played for a variety of clubs in the Conference and League 2 so looks like Wilder knew what he was doing. He does have quite a sound managerial record!

Creighton was the first to admit himself at the time that he was struggling at L2 level. Just didn’t have the speed (both physically and mentally) to cope with the step up. Really top bloke, though. One of the players I enjoyed chatting to the most in those days.

Also, he gave us one of the best photos in our history, IMO.

To be fair to Matt Green he got a move to Birmingham City after an unbelievable couple of years at Mansfield. He suffered a bad injury not long after signing for them and moved back to league 2 after 2 seasons.

I love the pic of the winner on the opening day at home to York. Both pics beautifully book-end that season.

Another one for the assembly line then! 😉
