Looking through the list of players currently available I began to wonder. What if the season began right now. What sort of team could we put out
The list of available players is as follows

A number of systems could be used but I decided on a 4-4-1-1 formation.
Eastwood in goal
Long at right back
Nelson at Centreback
Dickie at Centreback
Ruffels at Left back
Napa at right wing
Branagan midfield
Mousinho at midfield
Hall at left wing
Henry up front with Obika

There are lots of other combinations but that seems to be the strongest right now.
If Norman turned out to be ok than play him at right back and move Long to left back.
This would allow Ruffels to be used in a diamond formation.
And so on and so on
Hopefully the numbers will improve, but it's interesting to speculateright now when things are so quiet.

Eastwood

Norman Dickie Nelson Long

Carrol

Napa Branagan Hall

Henry
Obika
Subs: Shearer, Mousinho, Ruffels, Baptiste, Raglan, Hopkins, James

That does highlight the fact we’re seriously in need of at least 5 good new signings to be fair..

When all the hot air, hype and hope came out about meeting hundreds of agents in the first week after the season ended, I’m sure he mentioned needing 10 players.

we won’t sign ten but need four or five, mainly a couple of dangerous attackers and a midfielder with authority. If Ric signs the contract the defence is probably sorted

16 Pros in the squads mentioned above (plus Kelleher). Unless some more leave, then 10 would leave a very bloated squad of 27 players (something he is trying to get away from).

I would not be surprised if a couple more move out but even then I would be pretty surprised if we would get more than 6-7?

As Mooro states, the 10 probably includes U23 players.

I don’t recall that being stated, but could be wrong. When you find it can you please post it on here.

Cheers.

25/27 is a pretty small squad. We had high 30’s last season. Kr has said he wants two for each position, and tiger has said 10 new players so with 16 in already 25/27 seems about right

I would have thought that there would be a first team squad of around 22-23 plus the U23's to back this up (which could include Carroll, Long, Kelleher plus the two youngsters who were involved at Blackburn.
Ten players sounds about right, but half of them I would have thought would be to make up the U23 squad. KR did suggest that he wants to bring on younger players and that U23's will fill in as and when required?

We would be down by Christmas with the lack of fire power. This wont happen, and we know it. Love the Nelson/Dickie pairing...absolute quality.

Realistically though the following aren't going to see any first team football, if KR was being honest about pushing for promotion:
Keller, Stevens, Napa, Baptiste, Agboola, Long or Norman.
Most spent last season in lower non league's, so to expect them to suddenly become players in a first division promotion pushing team, is completely unrealistic. Even Napa gets pushed off the ball, or loses it to bigger players.

However Robinson is also upfront about giving promising players a chance despite their propensity for making errors. Supposedly Dele Alli spent his first few games underperforming, and KR kept faith that he could iron out any issues. Our lot won't be 20-30 game a season players this year, but he's definitely a fan of Napa, and perhaps a few of our other U23's will get a handful of league games at some point.

And I am expecting to see Norman as our first choice right back, seeing as we beat L1 competition for his signature.

Anyway, its quite clear that we need at least 2 strikers, 2 wingers, a holding/central midfielder, and a left back. And that's without accounting for further outgoings, e.g. Rothwell

Holding?central midfielder? They are like gold dust. It will certainly not be coming from non-league. I feel it will cost us dear.

Napa has speed, but like Carroll was exposed, Napa being too lightweight in too many games. Carrol barely featured, even on the bench when KR came in.
Dele Alli, had clear raw talent, and wasn't loaned out to teams way down the non league pyramid. The only player I didn't see play last season was the young irish lad, but by all accounts he was hardly pulling up trees in non league. There's been a couple of seasons loaning some of these lads to non league clubs, with little impact. I just don't see how they can be counted in a first division team squad pushing for promotion, when they didn't really make a difference at the non league clubs they were at.

Napa has raw talent but just like O'Dowda or Alli, he will develop physically. What don't you understand about that? Even the likes of Steven Gerrard and David Beckham had to develop physically when they 17/18/19.

O'Dowda spent his 1st season being knocked off the ball, by his final season at Oxford he was knocking others off the ball. Fortunately, KR can see young talent for what it is rather than assuming somebody coming out of the youth team/1st year pro should be a fully formed footballer.
