Tommy goes to jail

He was warned before and given a suspended prison sentence so only has himself to blame. Condones violence and encourages it

He's a complete idiot. He knew what he has doing, what he was getting himself into and while the speed of prosecution and length of the punishment maybe OTT, he only has himself to blame for the predicament he finds himself in. I know some in the US are turning it into a cause celebre, for me it's a cause bellend. Because only a bellend would do what he did, knowing how tightly locked down reporting of the trial was.

Stupid is, as stupid does.

Presumably Danny will talk about persecution of the innocent white working class male, whilst the whims of refugees and others are pandered to by those lefty types!

Agreed especially as he has put the prosecution in the original trial at risk. But he gets his self publicity so probably doesn't care.

There is a discussion to be had over how Grooming Gangs (regardless of ethnicity I will add) are treated in the press and how reporting is so persistently restricted. However, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (his real name) cannot use that as a defence for what he did. The wrong judge at the wrong time will have no sympathy for his sidehow and he's landed himself in a situation where his personal safety is in question.

There is a discussion to be had but has Stephen Yaxley-Lennon or his supporters protested/filmed/raised awareness of any of these that didn't involve Asians/Muslims?

As a general point of observation, a lot of people who shy away from discussions about the problem of Asian grooming gangs in the UK are the first to jump around in glee when a minor political activist is jailed.

It's a weird thing to observe.

Good assessment no matter what the rights and wrongs are.

Its not like he doesn`t have previous experience & understanding of the legal system.......................................................

In July 2011, Yaxley-Lennon was found guilty of "using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour" during a clash between rival football fans in Luton on 24 August 2010. He was given a 12-month community rehabilitation order and a three-year ban from football by Luton magistrates. He was also sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid work and had to pay £650 in costs.

In 2013, Yaxley-Lennon was imprisoned for 10 months for visiting the United States using someone else's passport.

In November 2013, he pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring with others to obtain a mortgage by misrepresentation from the Abbey and Halifax building societies in 2009. He was found guilty of mortgage fraud in January 2014 and sentenced to 18 months in jail.

Stupid is as stupid does.................. he only risked the trial collapsing, his freedom ....but he got his five minutes of fame and stoked a bit more hatred.

And for the sake of balance, many who have dubious political motivations will only too willingly exploit the problem of asian grooming gangs to further their cause.
It's not that weird to observe, it's been that way in politics forever.

Yup.

I find it a shame that there is some tip toeing around the issue because it feels like, as a society, we afraid of the hard truths. Do even a little research, and it's disgusting and horrifying the issue is so widespread and there is more outrage about Donald Trump visiting the UK. Our young deserve better than this.

Talking about Dannyc what happened to him? Is he Tommy’s alias

As a self-confessed liberal the issue of specifically Asian grooming gangs is an uncomfortable one for me to think about.

Too easy to blame the gutter press for highlighting cases that involve Asians while ignoring those involving white men, but it seems self-evident that all the major cases involving large numbers of abused (mostly) girls are perpetrated by men whose ethnic origin is the sub-continent.

Nothing racist about reporting facts, however uncomfortable they might be.

As has often been discussed in the less sensationalist press, there would seem to be a cultural element behind these events, with certain girls seen as legitimate prey because of their appearance, lifestyle or living conditions. This is, of course, appalling, but indicative of a real problem that needs to be addressed, not brushed under the carpet.

Another problem that needs to be confronted is the tendency amongst the less educated / poorly informed Tommy Robinsons of this world to believe the fallacy that all Asian men are potentially groomers, rather than the fact that most grooming gangs are Asian. Two totally different situations that seem to get confused in the scrambled minds of some.

Interesting point. I saw something recently that compared the media reporting of various cases involving grooming gangs. There seemed to be a much higher level of media reporting of the Asian (specifically Pakistani) gangs than there was of the many white grooming gangs. Why does that happen? Probably many reasons. Certain newspapers are pushing an agenda.

I'll see if I can find it and post it on here. https://medium.com/@Reg_Left_Media/grooming-gangs-quilliam-the-myth-of-the-84-percent-cc834b57fcf3

ALL grooming gangs are abhorrent. Because of the polarisation of politics recently, there seems to be condemnation of one side or the other in the media, by the likes of Yaxley-Lennon, "Liberal Lefties" etc, but less often is there condemnation of everyone involved.

Yaxley-Lennon claims he's not racist and he's doing what he does to protect young girls, but he only seems to be interested if they have been abused by a certain group of people.

You're right that there's a much wider issue here, and it's the vulnerability of the victims. Deal with that and there's much less chance of these awful events being repeated.

The problem is the perception of the issue not being covered because of the ethnicity in these cases - I cannot possibly know if it's true or not. Fears of being labelled as racist hampered the investigations in Rochdale and Rotherham. Is it more important to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the groomed or the groomers? It's the fuel morons like Robinson use to stoke their political fires and pull of stunts that landed him in HMs Holiday Camp.

I don't doubt that there are plenty of non-Asian grooming gangs out there and I'd love the politicians in this matter to talk openly about the various cultural problems we have. Sometimes in life, we have to confront the uncomfortable truths. We are exploring the open wound of Grenfell Tower in great deal. Where is a similar effort on grooming?

Just on the point about reporting - due to the large number on trial, a number of separate trials were on going and reporting restrictions put in place until all had concluded. This is nothing to do with ethnicity and all to do with natural justice. Unfortunately, the likes of Tommy use this as an excuse to incite racial tension by claiming that it is some Muslim appeasing bull crap!

If anything, there has been far more media attention on Muslim grooming gangs (and celebrity paedophiles) than any other sex offenders. Statistically, white males still make up the vast majority of child sex offenders. But that doesn't fit with the hateful agendas of the Tommys of this world.

Oxford mail today....Rape trial just starting...a rugby player has his photo in the paper is named and approximate address is printed....why isnt he given the same anonimity as the grooming gangs? i am waiting for tomorrows headline Oxford Mail reporter jailed for 13 months........The state has singled out TR for special treatment.....read a little about the things that the police have done to him even when he's out with his kids......i'm not really sure what the governments agenda is but they seem to have got the wind up after a fair few demonstrated outside Downing street, and all of a sudden lifted the ridiculous silencing. to finish.....i have watched footage of TR and p[eople calling him racist etc ...every time he asks them to name one thing he has done that is racist they NEVER come up with an answer???? TR is against Islam which TBH everyone should be against in this country..........dont call names for names sake......read a little more about it.
