Cue dog's abuse if this forum is like ours but I must point out Oxford are my second team due to @Bodminyellow. He has dragged me to countless Oxford away games over the years (including League Cup Final - a highlight) and I have reciprocated. Always very impressed with Oxford away following - similar to ours although obviously we have larger numbers and wee bit more boisterous.

Chuffed now my two clubs are inextricably linked but wanted a bit of insight into Stewart & Charlie. A cursory search reveals Charlie may not be too popular, but he has already reached legendary status on Wearside with his 'P**s-taking party stops here' comment. Think we have made a loss on 43 out the last 45 players we have sold, and lost more games than any team in all four top divisions over the last 10 years but some margin. Remarkable and no wonder we drink so much.

Couple of points to clarify, as some nonsense being spouted.

The plan is for Stewart to finance the club and if they get promoted he will look for additional investment to challenge for the next level.
He is paying Ellis Short in instalments to free up cash for next season. The parachute payments are collateral and not being used to pay Short, but a guarantee if it all goes horribly wrong.
Donald had to prove to EFL he had £50m spare to finance his plan before being given approval.
Short has written of £125m off debt. This was offered to Donald but he refused, which is a great gesture as he could have paid himself that out of the club tax free from any revenue or profits.

So Charlie seems to see the potential and Stewart seems to be a real football man. Can they take us to the upper echelons?

Good to hear from you.

You’ll not get any trouble on here as long as you’re not disrespectful of our club, which I’m sure won’t be the case.

I’ll leave it to others to give their opinions on the personalities of SD and CM as I don’t know either personally. However, CM will no doubt be very blunt with his messaging, as you’ve already seen, while SD will play good cop in public. The latter in particular seems a football fanatic so will throw everything at his time with you.

Only a complete disaster won’t see you up from L1 at first attempt given how disproportionate your transfer and wage set-up is.

You may be requiring Sartori next season to push on for Championship promotion but should imagine you’ll get north of 90 points this year without any troubles I should imagine.

Good luck for the season (apart from against us etc etc!)

Thanks Mate - much appreciated.

Oxford are my next favourite team, so total respect from me.

The Sartori angle seems to have some credence so here's hoping.

Looking forward to my trip to Oxford next season.

Methven regularly opts to wear pastel coloured cords and, in response to the question which people (living or dead), would make up his ideal dinner party, answered “Margaret Thatcher". It's unsurprising that the Mackam faithful have taken him to their hearts as one of their own.

Donald's choice of manager at Eastleigh has been chequered at best, but I like the sound of this wee Jack Ross lad to be fair.

mmm - Thatcher not too popular up our way so Chartle best to keep that one quiet. Our ground is on the site of the Wearmouth Colliery lest you forget. I may have missed the irony.

Charlie is quite a fanciful character - Lundinsponytail on here. Did a lot of good for OUFC in the Conference, more recently has been prone to bouts of random paranoia/insecurity if someone deigns to question him and it's fair to say has rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way unnecessarily. He may well change now he has a train set to play with, but be aware of the other side of him. It's not so pleasant. He placed a bet us going down last season, only to cash out when it was clear he wasn't going to win.

I don't wish him bad, but I'd be lying to say I wish him well. SD on other hand seems a decent chap who struggles to appoint a manager.

Chartle is the best name I've seen him called so far even if by accident. When in an argument with him refer to him as Charles as he loves that ;).

Stewart Donald strikes me as a proper football man alongside being a businessman. That said he did get somewhat stuck on the football side at Eastleigh even though spending a lot.

And never mention the Sportsman either. Still a little sore with him

Also, it's expected that, if you think Mr Methane (Charlie) is perhaps bull-shitting you, to place your hand in front of your mouth and say the words "Water Eaton" in the form of a cough.

He'll like that.
when it comes to @Lundinsponytail / Charles, apparently he has something of an aversion to moonshiners....... or is it shoeshiners?

I hope he starts posting on your forums. He'll be keeping an eye on them already, thinking up collective nicknames for posters who don't agree with everything he says. He's in the PR business, so expect long statements with absolutely nothing worth hearing in them.

.... and a liking for using Americanisms instead of English ( as in math instead of maths for example)

Brilliant, I’m using that. ?

This clip often reminds me of his interaction with some posters on the forum

I can't say I warmed to him on here, not that he'd be bothered. I did chuckle at him thinking he was some sort of football expert having played at Sunday League level. He's probably done us a favour moving as a Director to you because the forum is a less tedious place without him.

I hope not - we really do have an awful amount of knackers on our board but that is the modern world. No way do they reflect the mood at the matches or conversations in the pub.

Charlie has been posting on OUFC forums since at least the version before the version before the version before this one.
(I think I joined the original version of TIU about 2003/04, and he was definitely already around then).

I don't think anyone who's contributed regularly to the forum in that time hasn't been insulted by him at one time or another......

Honestly, I'm going to miss him because I enjoy sparring against intelligent, arrogant, condescending but knowledgeable Oxford fans.

But I can understand why others are glad to see the back of him!

Will he be any good as a club director? Lord knows. But it'll be interesting to see, because he doesn't really have any qualifications beyond being reasonably intelligent, a businessman and a fan. If he can do it well, then probably so could a lot of us!

Stewart has made interesting and enlightening contributions to this forum and appears to be well regarded by all.

As has been said, you can find out a lot about Charlie by tracking down 'Lundins Ponytail' posts on here. I'll bet you won't read many though!
