International News Covid-19 .....

UPDATE-
PCR was negative but I think that may have been because I tested within 2 days of contact and maybe a couple more days are required. My partner (AKA the malevolent leper with whom I do not live) seems mildly ill but she's managing. I will drag myself off to the test centre again n Wednesday and self isolate in the meantime. Any who know about the timeline between infection and PCR results are also welcome to join the newly formed 'my best friends group'

I suspect djokovid may have won the battle, but this whole debacle, coupled with presenting awards to local kids without a mask the day after 'testing positive' and his spreader tournament in 2020, has pretty much confirmed he has lost the war for popularity that he so craves within the tennis world.

If he plays in Melbourne the crowd will back his opponent in every match and every win booed, behaviour which may continue on to wimbers, paris and the us open too.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing Roger and Rafa more grand slam wins in future and this entitled Muppet an inglorious decline into history

I think if he's willing to avoid entry to competitions (and deportation from countries) and risk his career over the point, then he's not the least bit interested in whether people boo him at games.

The point wasnt that he was willing to avoid entry to competitions, it was he thought he should be allowed to play in those tournaments while avoiding the rules to get in..

Why go to a test centre if you aren`t symptomatic and are isolating anyway?
Just do an LFT and wait for the dual lines of doom...... then get a PCR to confirm if it happens.

3-4 days post infection you would be shedding virus and trigger an LFT....

If the noises coming from France are acted on then he won't be competing in Paris as he will have to be vaccinated. This is part of Macron's attempts to P**s off the unvaccinated.

The Aussies will have to make exemptions for anyone who has had covid but are now clear with those who aren’t vaccinated

Good point. I have decided to do another LFT tomorrow (day 4) and see how it goes. "Dual lines of doom'! That makes me feel better!!

Rule change today - you only need to do LFT if asymptomatic, if positive its daily LFT`s, you`ll only get a PCR if symptomatic.

At what point did Djokovic go from the likable 'Djoker' moniker to this above-the-law weirdo who lacks any form of sportsmanship?

The timeline of events suggests he just doesn't give a s**t. From throwing tennis events during the worst times in the pandemic to getting Covid at least twice, his approach seems to be one of outright denial and that Covid isn't a problem that affects him. I don't believe for a second that he didn't know his PCR test results whilst he swanned around doing media stuff. If you're waiting on a PCR, you stay put. Magazine photo shoots and handing out prizes to kids can wait.

It's another case of an entitled prick thinking they can do what the hell they want whilst others adhere to the rules. If he plays in Aus, I hope he's booed to the rafters and loses.

He's despised by the whole world now, it seems! Apart from a few freaks and fascists.

Thing is, he's never really been that popular - certainly not compared to Nadal or Federer. Because he's always been a bit of a surly, hyper-aggressive grump with a track record of failing to keep his emotions in check (see 2021 Olympics or 2020 US Open for classic examples).

Except in Serbia, where he is basically king.

I suspect all his Covid antics are going to do is get a bunch of non-tennis fans to hate him as well....and maybe up the vitriol level at his matches. But tennis fans were mostly cheering for his opponents already!

Clearly not many tennis lovers on here.
Some of the bs on here regarding his popularity or otherwise, is so misinformed.

Probably so, but amongst the vast majority of people who have little to no interest in tennis, he is almost certainly the most hated player that has ever played the game. The guy is an absolute helmet.

different generation but wasnt Ivan Lendl not liked much ( by the majority of English/ British tennis followers)?

dunno why that was, it just seemed no-one took to him ( Lendl)
