"Oxford United are continuing to investigate the possibility of introducing the Ox-Rails: Supporting Safer Spectators concept at the Kassam Stadium. "

In short, and IMO, Oxford United will continue to add pressure to the government for the introduction of safe standing. This is a superb initiative and if completed will see us halfway to adding safe standing at the Kastad.

It would also allow the Ultras to hang banners down the stand and really improve the visual appearance of home games further. Maybe even lead from the front barrier in a traditional Ultras section, where everyone will be standing safely behind barriers (looking long term).

I've personally fallen over rows in celebration quite a few times at matches, I'm in full support of safe standing and this will only encourage the relevant authorities to grant OUFC a safe standing pilot.

Great for the fans. All the more reason for people to get themselves up, singing and involved.

Do you have any examples of this please? I can just about use my feeble imagination, but if you know of any other clubs that do something similar, I'd be interested to see them. Cheers.

Great news, I agree. Even though I sit as I attend games with my old man, I'd definitely look to stand at games he doesn't attend.

For me it's not about sitting vs standing and which is safer etc. It's about whether standing is safe enough and giving people the choice to choose what they want to do, which I believe it is. Besides, thousands stand at top flight rugby games in this country. Drink alcohol, too. Another example of football fans being treated as 'less than' by others.

Football fans are seen as scum, let's be honest.

You can see it in some of the pictures of Celtics, but it's no different to taping your banner onto other hand rails and barriers when you travel away from home.

Would the ground need to be taken into some sort of ownership before we are allowed to start altering the seating, or build the 4th stand to accommodate Safe Standing?

This might be a silly question, but are we required to have an all seater stadium, as we were in the Championship / equivalent for the required number of years after the rules changed when at the Manor, even though when we moved to the Kassam we were below that level? please excuse errors!

I'm ot entirely sure if I'm paraphrasing the above post or not, but....

If we got promoted to the Championship next season, as the law stands today, would we have to remove the safe standing?

Im all for it, but having it for one season seems wasteful, if indeed that is the case.

We are already in the bracket that safe standing isn’t allowed. This is just a barrier in between the rows.

Until "us" football fans stop behaving like territorial neanderthals then the wish for safe standing will remain a distant dream.
The chances of reclaiming the working mans game from the jaws of the ££££`s machine are nil.
Seats create more control and income ...... you might get a token % of safe standing but that will be it.

Unfortunately yes we are. We fall into the group of clubs who cannot install any standing areas. This is very clever from Mixter, we would be installing a safe standing area whilst retaining the all-seater stadium criteria.

Don't suppose there is any chance this can be installed in the top area of the East Stand which is currently empty?

The Oxford Mail used the phrase safe-standing, I didnt realise the Ox-rail was a different concept. Thanks for clearing that up.

Which will probably be at eye level of the person in the row behind if they are sitting ?

With safe standing, are you still allocated a space? Or do you stand where you want?

i read the article and i dont see where it endorses standing

As it’s not officially safe standing and the ground is still considered all seater then I would assume it’s still allocated seating. The only way we could move away from allocated seating is when we get to the point where these rails are placed on every row in a stand and then you could potentially make it a free for all.
