Away Match Day Thread 02/10/2021 L1: Sheffield Wednesday v OUFC

Feeling oddly confident today. Team finally clicked on Tuesday and confidence will be high. The question is do you set up a bit more defensively due to being away against a tough team or stick with the attacking lineup that battered a decent Accrington side? Probably a mixture of both.

Stevens
Long McNally Moore Seddon
Gorrin
Brannagan Kane
Henry Taylor Holland

2-0 up at half time, concede on 65, nervous 25 minutes but hold on for 3 points. Taylor and Henry with goals.
The team, score and scorers that I predicted - but there's no limit on how many people can be right!!!

Edit - I went with Thorniley over McNally! But nearly perfect!!

would be madness not to start Gorrin today imo. He may be limited in what he offers going forward but against the likes of Wednesday away we’re going to need that defensive solidity. Horses for courses n all that. After our woeful start to the season away from home, I’d be thrilled with a 0-0 here. Need to start picking up points away from home. Very excited though - my first trip to hillsborough, one of the iconic English football grounds imo.

Incidentally, the person I was going to come with dropped out last minute so I have a spare ticket for anyone who wants one. I know you can still buy on the door so willing to sell for a knock off price (£20). Let me know

Whole different beast to Accy, but Wednesday also play decent football so we may be in for a good game.
All going to be won on the wings.
Without a quick goal it might end up 0-0 here, which I wouldn't be sad about.
COYY!

..... just had a message from a Blades supporting mate based in Sheffield,.... there will be a few blades supporters ( my mate and a couple of his mates- maybe others too?), not making the journey south to Bournmouth, in the away end lending their support to the U's this avo'.... they , blades fans, wish for a heavy defeat for ' t'owls' every time they play!

My team for today if fit:

Stevens

Long
Thornily
Moore
Seddon

Kane
Alejandro Rodriguez Gorrin
Brannagan

Sykes
Taylor
Holland

I think Kane is an upgrade on Henry and Brannagan and gets in the team ahead of them both IMO. I think today Brannagan's ability to hassle and press is needed and Henry is a good player to bring on in any situation.

It’s a wet day up here in Sheffield! No pubs around the ground seem let away fans in and you require a Wednesday membership to get in you’re a home fan! I managed to find the sportsman which is 30 minutes walk from the ground!
Feeling confident today and think we will nick a 2-1 win.

I like Darren Moore. Always have since he was at the Baggies and got mistreated, despite giving them some real spirit. Bright future.

Still, I do think we'll take the 3 points handsomely. 3-1.

Interesting side. Forde to provide additional defensive grit down that side? Can’t remember the last time he started at RW for us but perhaps deserves it after tuesday. No Whyte on the bench is a concern (unless he’s unavailable for some reason I’m not aware of?), would have thought his pace would be ideal today.

International call up for Whyte

I think Forde deserves to play, he’s a very decent player and a great crosser plus gets stuck in more than pure wingers

Next weekend
If he's still suffering from a knock and doesn't even make the bench surely he shouldn't travel for international duty. Big honour and everything but still...

Apart from that it's a pretty good team, will be interesting to see how Forde plays further up and how the interaction with an overlapping Long works.
