Whatever the rights and wrongs of selling players please can we remember this and the rebuilding work that Robbo has to do every season and how tough that is .
To get us top 6 again next season I'd bite your hand off at the minute .
Going to be so interesting to see who we bring in at Left back and Centre back ( and any other positions required )

makes it even more important to not sell players on the cheap then.
£1.6m plus add-ons for a league 1 CB with one pro season is not selling on the cheap. If he wants to leave, better to get that fee than be stuck with him sulking for a year until he goes for less next season.

He is under contract so don't need to triple his wages. Just like we can't get rid of Hanson. Players can't have it both ways.
It's not that simple and you know it. The moment someone comes in to triple a players wage, they'll want to go; exactly as you or I would if someone offered us triple the wage. If we play hard ball with him then two things will happen; he will resent OUFC for not letting him take a shot at the championship and earn significantly more money, and prospective players will think that we'll stand in their way and choose not to come to us. Rob Atkinson doesn't owe us a thing and standing in his way would be selfish on our part. OUFC have a really positive reputation and I think that's something that should be celebrated, not vilified every time we succeed at turning a nobody into a proper player.

By improving their team every year as they single mindedly pursue their stated goals.

We were weaker last season than the season before (Robinson’s words) and we will likely be weaker again.

It’s a shame. If we need the money that badly, tell us and we will all be behind the club. I don’t think that’s the case, though, so why the need to dispose of our best prospect at the first sign of Brizzle’s filthy-lucre.
THIS.

If our squad come the start of the season is weaker than the one that finished last seasons JUST inside the play offs then questions need to be massively asked after KR's top 30 'big club' comments.

so over the last 5 years Brentford have sold 18 players for a combined total of 133 million pounds, no wonder theyve gone from league 1 to the premier league!
And most probably there was a huge group of fans saying ‘we’ll never make it doing this’…. A 5 year plan to go from league one to the premier league selling our best players? Owners must be on something - bloody Idiots.

They’ll be in the queue for season tickets nonetheless in their brand new stadium their player sales helped to fund.

I think we would all be a bit more chilled if the takeover had clearly happened and the future plans including Stadium was announced.
Then we would know where we were trying to aim for .

You missed the bit about money ensuring that the club remains financially sound following a season of no crowds and massively reduced income or maybe I missed that bit.
thats why you dont sell on the cheap.1,6 million is going to do f**k all at making us a championship club and is going to do f**k all at clearing any debt.

So if a player wants to dump us at the first opportunity, after one season, to earn more money, that's fine, but if we want to stop a player leaving, after just one season, and keep hold of him for another season, so we can make more money, we're selfish??

It works both ways, why should we be the soft touch, that gets the shitty end of the stick every time, we should sell him, and help him progress his career, certainly, but only when it works for us also.

Chairman multi millionaire Directors Billionaire's prepared to fund team to get promoted ABSOLUTELY ZERO LIVING OF FUNDS BY SELLING PLAYERS NO AMBITION

and that old chestnut rears it's head, many fans have endured reduced income or in some cases received next to nothing

I thought it's our model someone goes each summer or maybe i invented that bit

what about money from cup runs + extra for tv games not forgetting Ifollow sales none of which are in your budget .

you cannot play the poverty angle whilst claiming you see yourself being a top 30 club, the 2 don't go together

Rubbish. I think it will go pretty far in contributing to club out goings like wages following a normal season let alone the one we have just had with massively reduced income.

If we sold Atkinson but brought in Jason Kerr at centre back, Joe Tomlinson at left back, extended Elliott Moores contract and put a few quid in the back, would people still be questioning our ambition or think that we'd start the season weaker?

* don't quote me on this but certainly players we're looking at!

The difference is, they were prioritising their own needs just as much as the players needs, and were getting excellent deals for their players, once THEY DECIDED to sell them, while we keep getting our pants pulled down, by players and clubs taking advantage of our nice guy and soft touch nature.

We need to start showing some teeth, that way, maybe we'll start keeping the team together for longer than a few months at a time, and then when WE DECIDE the time is right to let a player go, it will be on terms that are just as beneficial to us, as the player and the club he joins.
