Chairman Takeover now Old Car Chat

Fairly obvious that it will be right and left back, just hope Messi being a short a**e doesn’t get targeted by crosses at the back post.
Cant do any worse than Ruffels v Blackpool. Apologies Huddersfield fans... 😳

Very few football clubs make anything through football alone. A good recruitment structure might help you cash in on player sales, promotion will get you more TV money, and a purpose built stadium may allow you to get multiple income streams to offset the cost of running the club.

So whilst fans dream of being involved in their own club, investors will be looking at one or more of the options above.

We have built on a successful transfer model and have invested in the youth set up, we have made the play offs for the last two years and promotion is still the target, so that just leaves owning our own stadium.... and that is hopefully not far away!
It’s all about the stadium.

Love the reference to de Boer in the Thohir story. But here in Holland we're still stuck with him. :(

.... Oxford utd isn't based around universities it's based on a fan base....the faithful ...the ones ...the every week turn up no matter whatters
Not if you are a billionaire investor looking to create a legacy and increase your prestige. We can argue the rights and wrongs of this until the cows come home, but the simple truth is that if the club we support was somewhere else that didn’t carry the global appeal that Oxford has, this deal wouldn’t be happening.

The old Town v Gown issue - we know that there are 2 very different Oxford's. However that isn't perceived by many from outside the city - even in this country. Tell people you are from Oxford and you get asked about the Uni. So for investors from overseas the perceived connection between our club and a city with international prestige as a centre of excellent education is key. The name is recognisable and marketable (revenue from sponsorship). Plus opportunity to develop stadium.

I agree, but other clubs have international reach as well though so could do similar, we aren't unique. Swindon has a roundabout, whereas Wycombe has a big Next, for example.

But the thing is do/will people that are in Oxford on a visit even know about the Football Club or even be bothered to attend when they are aware.

it's fine attracting them to the Retail Outlets but how does that Benefit Oxford United if they never attend a game.

By contributing revenue to the site.

I raised that question months ago, is there any indication that the club will get a % of any retail sales?

if the backers decide to move on from the club once the cash registers are ticking along nicely what next? and importantly what's the attraction for any new prospective Owner/s ?

I guess the answer will be in the detail soon once the ink has dried

You mean somewhere crap, and a real end of the world feel about it. Sunderland… oh and Scumdon.

Im loving how we are progressing as a football club, on and off the pitch. Yet they have a great owner in Lee Power and are very ungrateful. Love them to go out of business, while we continue to thrive.

No there isn’t but the revenue that the associated businesses will generate for the consortium makes their investment in the stadium viable - that’s quite a benefit to OUFC!

Chris Williams is at the cricket today (Hi Chris!) so I hope no one is expecting anything to be announced today!

Disagree, there are several other clubs out there who are punching below there weight with decent fan bases and good potential fan bases, not northern ****holes, where a new ground / investment could revitalise them. Plymouth, Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Portsmouth etc, .

Charlie used to give the example of Brighton as a club with a big catchment area in the South East, big potential. and look where they are now.

How many of those cities are known globally and would appeal to an Asian market?
