Disagree.

Seen him several times for Pomey and I think we can get much better.

Pace is great but we need strength and power in that Midfield.

Get that addressed and have someone like Barker and we're be ready to challenge.
As wingers go you won't get too many stronger, unless you're looking for a player like Adama Traore? In theory we could do better, but if he's a good fit for the team and works financially then I think it's a solid signing for us. We were crying out last season for a natural right winger, and whilst he's not flashy, he's solid, dependable and means we won't blow our budget chasing a dream winger when other areas need strengthening too.

I would agree, that I don't normally care who they support, but with one exception, and that exception is Swindon. Particularly when the player in question has previously gestured at Oxford fans in a conscious attempt to wind us up.

There are plenty of other players out there. f**k him.

A Swindon supporter who has probably kissed the Luton badge?

Makes me itch just thinking about it.

Izzy Brown has been released from Chelsea seemed to have a lot of loans in the championship over the last 5 years, player who needs to kick on with his career at some point as he has got great ability, maybe could come to league 1 & show what he’s got more consistency before getting back to the top

He would be a great signing

Ryan Williams is a very solid league one winger. It's been said a thousand times that we need to add more strength and experience to what has been a very young squad, and Williams gives us that. He hasn't got explosive pace, but he's quick enough and has the strength to come inside and create space for Long to overlap outside. With no transfer fee, this would be a really decent addition to the squad.

As for pace, Nathan Holland was very much on our radar in January, but wasn't fit enough. I'd be amazed if we aren't asking questions this summer and a full preseason could really help him toughen up for league one. Equally, Brandon Barker won't feature much for Rangers and a season long loan could give us another dimension. He needs to develop his wider game, but he can be dangerous in short burst if used as an impact player.

Like all fanbase opinions vary but i seem to recall at our place he got in dangerous positions but the end product was virtual non existent and he seemed knackered after 15 minutes.

Didn't seem to get too much praise on various Pompey forums towards the end of the season

If we want Barker then sign him permanently not fanny about with Loans to the benefit of others Long Term

If we got him on loan I don't think Rangers would benefit long term as next season is his final year iirc.

He hasa year left on a contract that would likely attract a transfer fee and higher wages to release him from. A season long loan with an option of a permanent deal at the end would be the most cost effective and still give him the motivation to fight for a contract next summer.

Option ? when was the last time we had a player on loan with a genuine view and realistic chance to have Long Term?

Players should want to be here and the club should stop all this give us a year nonsense and allowing ourselves to be used as a stepping stone.

Ryan Williams seems a really low risk signing. Proven at League One level, fits our system, knows the club. People might question his end product but he certainly wasn’t a headless chicken last time he was here and 5 goals and 6 assists this season is perfectly respectable. I might question it if we had three 7/10 standard wingers and this was our only chance to add the bit of X factor we need out wide, but if it’s Williams and a couple more as I believe it is, I think it’s the kind of signing that might allow us to roll the dice a bit with the others (a winger like Holland for example with obvious quality but fitness question marks).
