This season has seen a change in quality of loans that have been dropping into the league.

To use arbitrary numbers in the league:
Shodipo - 11 goals, 2 assists
Lee - 6 goals, 2 assists
Barker - 3 goals, 4 assists

Around 25% of our goals have come from loanees, with an additional ~25% from Taylor.

I would think Lee is the most likely to return on a permanent. I think Barker will find his way into the Championship whilst Shodipo will play a role at QPR.
Those are excellent records, I’d be surprised if we didn’t see Lee on a permanent deal. Would be more than happy with Mide back too, his final ball will only improve.

I think the nature of our loans is interesting though, we’ve brought in players there that must have played what 300 senior games?

I’d be interested to know if there was a financial advantage gained through picking up younger loans with no experience like Ballard, Simms, Rogers etc

As things stand we also have two wingers to return in Sean Clare and Joel Cooper, easy to forget they are fully part of our squad for next season until we hear more news. Both prefer to play on opposite sides too.

Much more it’s listed online as £2.43 million up front 👍
£2.43m seems much fairer for Dickie. A Championship POTS centre-back won't move to a PL club for anything less than £15m.

£2.43m is still a steal for a player of his level.

Given Atkinson's place in the L1 TOTS and his relatively good contract length it would take a really decent bid to take him away. Bristol City would be a good move for him and they could probably afford it, but I think there will be other options that will be easier for them. Fingers crossed we can keep hold.

It’s listed as £2.43m on a website that not only has no sources to cite, but also claims that Dickie’s current value is less than what they paid for him, despite the fact that he’s just swept the QPR end of season awards after a seriously impressive campaign in the Championship. That alone tells people all they need to know about the accuracy of their projections.

Someone who works for The Athletic, who I used to do the rounds with when I was a match reporter for the nationals, told me it was closer to £1.5m and that Reading took several hundred grand of that as they had a sell-on. Who knows, eh.

I hope that we get proper money and a good sell-on whenever Atkinson goes. He’s got the raw potential and all the basic ingredients to go to the Premier League comfortably.

Suspect we will see the following:

Lee - Permenant deal
Cadden - Free transfer

Barker - loaned to another club, higher level, or similar
Shodipo - QPR will give him a go, and will end up loaning him our again in January

Cadden by the way has a great left foot. Can deliver a great set piece as well as striking the call well. See the in below to his goal of the season for Greenock Morton.
Meant to add to this that I would expect us to be infor Nathan Holland again this summer. Think he's out of contract, and has had another injury hit year. He's exactly the type of player who'd benefit from playing 40-50 games in League One to get himself on people's radars again.

Think there'll be more players available than ever before.

I’m surprised Atkinson is on the Championship radar. Don’t agree that he can manage the step-up comfortably, at least not yet, as he couldn’t handle the L1 playoffs.

Never like predicting anything but the one to go for money in the close season would most likely be Branagan.

The phrase 'another injury hit year' is ringing alarm bells with me!

Naive from us (if true)

Portsmouth paper reporting some squad size news. It was due to change to be 20 for the new season.

"The revised plans are now set to see that threshold raised to 22 players, with that number not including goalkeepers or players under the age of 21 ."

We were allowed 22 players including keepers this year IIRC. So that is potentially a couple of extra senior slots?
