As many of you may be aware, the Sports Minister Tracey Crouch recently rejected West Brom’s application to install rail seating in their ground, against experts advice.

In fact, not only did Tracey Crouch MP reject the application, she went further, suggesting that instead of allowing ‘persistent standers’ their own area, the ground-regulations surrounding Persistent Standers should be more heavily enforced.

Safe Standing benefits everyone in the country. Every club, every fan. If you like to stand, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that you can stand in peace, without being persecuted by stewards. If you like to sit down, nobody will be standing in your view as they’ll be in the standing section. Simple, eh?

Tracey Couch advised that this issue “isn’t in her inbox” and that the issue was being raised by a “vocal minority”. Now is the time to show Tracey that this is a very big issue. The petition has almost hit 50k signatures in two days - it’s time to go even further.

The Ultras are a huge advocate for safe standing (most of our shins have been mutilated by seats) and the thought of this being implemented at the Kassam is an exciting prospect.

Please sign, even if you will never make use of a safe-standing facility.
It is important to all football fans.

Signed ....and email sent to Annaliese Dodds Oxford East MP on the subject-asking her views regarding safe standing and other issues when Football supporters are treated differently to spectators who watch top level Rugby, Cricket and other sports

Her predecessor Andrew Smith was very much a supporter of the introduction of Safe Standing at Football matches in England and Wales

Thank you ESB for pinning this, and to everyone for singing the petition.

Done.

A dodgy back & knee means I struggle to stand for the length of a football match these days, however bringing in safe standing to our stadiums would help improve the atmosphere immeasurably.

shared it on social media too

Done - but I fear that the wishes of football supporters (and certainly those who go to games rather than being spoon fed it on the telly) are a hugely low priority for the government. I also suspect that the shadow of various football disasters will fall over this issue even though those of us interested in the subject know that the relevance is slight. Here's hoping though...

I have always wondered how the all seater stadia rule for certain football grounds (those at a certain level that were built after a certain time, so not even all football grounds) survives in this country when standing is allowed in other sports and even football at both a professional and amateur level.

I went to Cheltenham festival on gold cup day, where standing on shallow terraces is allowed for a huge and very inebriated crowd, it’s ridiculous to single football out as if standing is so dangerous it must be when attending any sporting/musical/large crowd drawing event, the event you are watching would have no effect on that. I think a legal challenge would have more effect than constantly petitioning for it, suppose its finding someone with deep enough pockets to fund that though.

They still have a terrace at Leicester Tigers. You can stand on said terrace drinking a beer watching a game.

The biggest difference is that most folk at the likes of rugby, Cheltenham etc can generally handle having a skin full and not wanting to fight everyone.
As @holdsteady says it needs a legal challenge from someone like the FSF....petitions aren`t worth a w**k.
