It has occurred to me, that compared to others "groups" (as managers like to call them!) we have had in my time supporting the mighty Yellows (I can remember vaguely as far as back as the early noughties) that I like this group of players. Looking in Charlton and Pompey forums they seem to actively dislike some of their players. I've been there before supporting the Ox when we've had players who have come across lazy, with an attitude, or an arrogance.

The other team I remember liking a lot was the promotion team. But when I think about it, we were just a stepping stone for so many players in that great side (Roofe, Lunny, COD, even Dunks). I did still like those players but something about this bunch of lads feels more "ours".

Sam Long
The Bicester Maldini. Been at the club since the dawn of time. Works hard. Overcome lots of injuries. Has also had the odd moment of magic this season. Seems like a good lad too.

Josh Ruffels
Another local lad who had been with us ages. Also has a tendency to provide magic moments. He seems a good professional. Handsome b-stard too.

James Henry
This guy is a model pro. Apart from early this season he has been Mr. consistent for us over the last few years. A player with quality that I dreamed about us having in the dark days. Chips in with goals too.

Jack Stevens
Another lad who has been with us ages and patiently waited for his chance. He has absolutely smashed it since being handed the gloves. Great asset to the team and great we have developed our own talent.

Matty Taylor
He's a bit lairy but sometimes you need that in the striker. Yet another local lad who made his way back the hard way. Grafter, shithouse, legend.

Cameron Brannagan
Another who seems like a good lad and has been around a good while now. I hope he stays with us a few more seasons.

I'm sure the others are good lads too but to have a spine of dependable lads with a professional outlook who have been around the club for a while, many of whom are local has been really refreshing. Long may it continue.

You only have to look at McGuanes signing video, along with Browne's return last season, to see that the atmosphere around the entire club is incredibly welcoming and warm, and really helps us in landing top quality targets.
