International News India - Covid - The EU

I (somehow) didn't know about the flag similarities, thanks for the knowledge.

Central African Republic. Have some pride in your name for God's sake.

What’s the CAR done now? [emoji2371]

Oh nothing new so far as I know. They just have a chronically unimaginative name - albeit a fairly accurate one.

You want to get yourself a book of flags. I’ve got one. £2.99 from the National Trust shop at Dunstable Downs. You’re welcome.

Meh, give me the exotic lie over the dull truth any day.

Democratic Republic of Congo is pretty dishonest though
Don't start me on Chile!

So by 'brexity types" are you suggesting that you understand more about the situation than Amy of the people who voted for Brexit?
I certainly don’t consider everyone who voted leave to be a Brexity type.
But if you’re talking about the ones who would swear night is day just to push their agenda, then yes, I would consider myself more informed.

Once again you fail to understand what the European Union is - despite the major clue in its name.

The union is a place where sovereign nations come together to collaborate, to share resources, to achieve better outcomes for people and planet than if nations acted alone.

The EU therefore has no need to justify its existence.

Define the differences between the executive powers of a nation state and the European Union ?

After you've told us about the Council of the European Union - not mistaking it with the European Council, or the Council of Europe.

Well it is the EU Commission that holds the executive power over the entire EU.

"The Commission is the EU institution that has the monopoly on legislative initiative and important executive powers in policies such as competition and external trade. It is the principal executive body of the European Union and is formed by a College of members composed of one Commissioner per Member State. The Commission oversees the application of Union law and respect for the Treaties by the Member States; it also chairs the committees responsible for the implementation of EU law. The former comitology system has been replaced by new legal instruments, namely implementing and delegated acts."

Anyone know the difference between the People's Front of Judea and the Judean People's Front, whilst we are clarifying things?

Wrong, it’s the Eu Council with the power. The commission carries out the wishes of the Council on a day to day basis. ( the ones we elected 😉)

Some people believe that it's been Major Sleaze and his chums who have done the work on the new arrangements following Brexit, rather than the civil servants.

Most of our Councils are "Officer Led", and yet we hear very few claims that they are not "democratic".

You’ve avoided that question quite nicely there 😉.

The EEC was an excellent trade collaborative akin to the trade deal we have now. It showed countries can work together for collective advantage whilst maintaining independent executive power. The European Union significantly took on a significant number of executive responsibilities which went beyond what the EEC stood for.

Some people agree with that. Some people do not. It’s a personal preference. And it’s ok that people disagree . Then it’s just a case of which the majority prefer.

Brexit as a concept was vastly overhyped by both sides. Life goes on either way.

Best inform the people on that link then as that is the information they put out.

Not that we need to worry about it anymore. :) 🍻 (y)

Fair enough and I agree wity you on that
As a bit if balance though there do seem to be some who think that everything EU is fantastic and everything about Brexit will be a disaster.
I suspect that the truth will be something in the middle

The EU is a good idea for facing the challenges of the modern globalised world. But yes, it’s not perfect and with any organisation of considerable size will always have conflicts of interests.
Brexit has its benifits if you want a the most unregulated free market economy possible (which for some will massively benefit from) personally I don’t think it’s in this countries best interests to pave the way for Companies based in the UK to switch manafactoring to the Far East or elsewhere. I know people like the idea of cheaper goods, but it’s only a short term gain.
