Home Match Day Thread +++ 10/04/2018 OUFC v Fleetwood Town Match Day Thread +++

I had Southend as the 'easiest' game as it means nothing to them. Then Fleetwood (although they are on a very good run) Oldham was going to be tough as they had a huge amount to play for and were on a reasonable run of results.
Southend or Doncaster of the remaining teams. We can definitely get something tomorrow though aswell.

I dont think we’ll be safe until late on. Tomorrow I see as a Fleetwood win.
They always turn us over. I just look at our team right now and it’s bereft of ability and desire. Almost need to be right down there before these players truly commit bodies forward and shoot on target!
So, silver lining is I think we’ll benefit from new manager approach and sense of urgency will eventually secure the points against Southend and away at Doncaster (4 points).

I have to say you are wrong about ' desire' the players, apart from one who was then subbed , all gave everything they had in effort and desire to win. There was a lacking in quality in the final third but no way was desire to do well missing.

Indeed, as exemplified by this picture from the final whistle on Saturday. Two players accused of not putting in 100% in the past - somewhat unfairly on my view - had put their bodies on the line, as did the rest of the team (with one notable exception!)

The desire was there, their control of the ball was not.
It may have been down to them wanting to win so bad they were too eager and could not settle to a rhythm.
Obika had a bad day at the office as did others, I don't want to put all the blame on him but I thought he possibly cost us the win for his mistakes.

Hopefully, they will come out Tuesday and put on a more controlled performance.

Mowatt and Van Kessel available tomorrow.

There will be a few changes with Ruffels Henry and Thomas all out although it sounds as if one may be available(i suspect that would be Ruffels)

With lack of wingers again we may see the diamond return
Eastwood
Kane Dickie Mousinho Ricardinho
Ledson
Brannagan Mowatt
Rothwell
Obika Napa

Never good against this lot but there manager said they were fatigued on Saturday so hoping the same for tomorrow.
With our two top scorers out we need players to step up and we need to be creative.
1-0
Rothwell

Hopefully Van Kessel can make a difference, listening to Robinson, Van Kessel is committed to helping the team and went and trained on his own yesterday.

No way could you say that the team on Saturday were bereft of desire. Quality maybe but all but one player put everything into Saturday in my view.

Right the only match day thread I've started this year was Charlton away, and given that that was such an absurdly fortunate result for us, I'm hoping that my influence on the MDT will give us the rub of the green again tomorrow.

)

In what way was that an absurdly fortunate result for us. Don't you think we deserved that win? We played really well. Good football and a spirited display too. We've had a massive amount to moan about this season but credit where it is due, surely.

I assume he meant that being behind with minutes to spare before riding out winners is generally absurd. But agree with your other points.

Wasn't the "absurd" (I get that, and that's what makes football what it is) but to dismiss it as fortunate I don't get.

No of course but you know what I mean. Best end-of-game turnaround I've ever seen. Credit where it's due, I'd say over the game that was probably the best we've played since maybe Plymouth away in November. Played a quick, fluid front three, and played it along the ground, to devastating effect - and then haven't done again since...

Ah, fair enough. In which case, then yes I agree again. As you were!

1-0 Thomas within 10 minutes and a nail biting 80 minutes of riding our luck at the back.

COYY

Is Conor McAleny (however you spell it) likely to play? God I hope not!! Former players and all that!!

If you look at past results/form we’re in for a loss tonight. Fleetwood have beaten most of the teams we need to move away from and will undoubtably be comfortable having got over the fabled “50 points”. I would be happy to park the bus for the rest of the season and pick up 3+ points which I think Robinson is considering. I’ll go for a 1-1 draw tonight hope we can sneak a win though.

Think it will be a nail bitting 2-1 to us - we will concede at some point.

Have a nasty feeling we will lose 0-1 and it’ll be squeaky bum time. McAleny scoring after 70.
I hope I see a win tonight...as it’s been a while since I have
