Inconsistent, weak , and 'allowed' evans/gills to make all the decisions for him it seemed....hes been ok in previous games hes refereed ....not so today imo ....4 from me

Poor. Lost control of the game for large periods, didn't punish the kicking the ball away from Gillingham (although he was bloody quick enough when Taylor did it for us!) or the time wasting, didn't add enough time on at the end of either half really - should have red carded Fatty Evans for the abuse being screamed at him at the end.

The only way to describe him is utterly weak. They could take set pieces/throw ins pretty much where they wanted.

I predict he won't report Fatty McCheat for that top volume rant at the end.

Hopelessly weak and missed all the niggly stuff........ except for Matty Taylor kicking the ball away!
Pointed at his watch numerous times and I`m glad he added 5 minutes on but that was his only saving grace.
A poor 4 from me.

Some bits I don`t get... maybe the rules have changed.....

Why do Lino`s stand and watch the ball roll past them rather than sticking a foot out and stopping it?

Can the 4th official call a throw in or a foul?

Because the Linos don't want to be accused of favouring a team by stopping the ball. Could you imagine Fatty McCheat's rant if the lino had stopped the ball and from this we scored the winner considering his rant when they hadn't done anything?!

The 4th Official can as the one on Tuesday told of the Ref of the foul on Sykes by Norburn that we got a free kick for.

I’ve seen a hell of a lot worse than him this season. And at least we won.
Whether we won or not makes absolutely no difference to how good the ref was!

As a collective, we have given high marks to refs in defeat and low marks to refs when we've won - and I think that is right.

Thought the ref was fine. He booked there right back for taking his time on a throw in. Taylor kicking the ball away was comedy gold .

3 from me and that’s 3 for allowing our goals rather than trying to find a reason not to give them. Matty Taylor gets booked and rightly so for kicking the ball away yet a bit earlier 10/15 mins or so there player does it for the same reason the ref runs over and blows for the free kick to be taken

There does seem to be a lot of people who have this mindset:

Win = ref had a good game

Lose = any criticism of the ref is trying to somehow ‘blame’ him for our performance

Agreed. But I thought Gills’s shithousery was on the limit rather than beyond the limit, they were pretty good value for their 2 goal lead by 73mins. I genuinely didn’t think the ref was that bad. There were no massive, glaring error decisions that went either for or against us that led to goals or sendings off. Yes we were all annoyed at being 2-0 in such an important game, but how much fault of that was actually the refs?.

Maybe sub par at the referee craft side of things (time wasting, kicking ball away), but all of his decisions were OK I think. In the second half I didn't really think he did much wrong...maybe not blowing up for Agyei getting pulled back but then again maybe he was waiting for a possible advantage.

We have had far worse this season IMO.

What was Evans ranting about at the end, I didn’t see anything in the game that warranted that abuse, I know he’s a gobby t**t but couldn’t see any reason for the outburst, The cameraman saw it coming so kept the camera on him. Should have red carded him.

Covid protocol they're not meant/allowed to touch the ball

The only thing I can think of is that we scored our superb winner in the 93rd minute, and he probably thought that was too much added on time. The fact that it was 100%down to their gamesmanship wouldn't occur to him.

On second thoughts maybe he thought the ref blew up too quickly as they'd been farting around much more?!

From watching the end part again earlier. Fatty McCheat and the rest of their bench were screaming for a foul (high foot) by Agyei in the build up to our 3rd goal, so I reckon it'll be this. Even their player didn't claim it was a foul at the time however so Fatty still pissing in the wind and trying to deflect the blame.
