National News Another Patel payout

Listen, she didn’t do anything wrong. We’re just paying people six figures in compensation - while the independent regulator of the ministerial code resigned after they were told she hadn’t broken said code, despite it being their job to advise on that - because everything is above board. This has all happened because nothing ever went on that was unacceptable, or outright illegal.

Now shut up and obey the laws that this woman puts in place, because if you don’t then she will either fine you a few grand or put you in jail.

I would love to know what % of Tribunals are settled outside.
Mine was when my former employer found out the difference between paying me off and paying me off, plus fee`s etc.

It`s always cheaper in the long run :)

Chappy had a price and got it, life moves on and PP gets the job done ..............and weeds out some senior civil service dead wood as a bonus.

Win win.

It was settled because having Patel in the stand would have been too toxic, they knew it would embarrass the government, and especially Boris.

And it's not dead wood on the whole, they are the better/best civil servants that are going (paid off or not) and parts of government are struggling to work properly because they are losing people with the skills. The dead wood would more be the woman that leads the department that has been repeatedly found to be covering up issues rather than dealing with them.

Yeah...but she's got really shiny boots from all that licking from your favourite Leicestershire resident poster[emoji6]

I think she dealt with him in a manner he wasn`t accustomed too as in "Pull your finger out and crack on Humphrey".
Should also be succession planning for when these folk move on as they invariably do.
No one person should hold all the cards or they think they are indispensable ...especially when they aren`t.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Got to love someone who cracks on and gets things done.... delivery is everything, collateral damage is just that... :)

She has repeatedly been found to have acted in inappropriate manner to staff, and taxpayer money has repeatedly been used to pay off staff and keep them quiet. In his case he represented his staff to her against her inappropriate behaviour to them. He was personally attacked both directly, and in briefings to the press re his work.
If she was competent then it would be bad enough to defend her, but she really isn't - so much so that they would rather put people like Gavin Williamson up for briefings rather than her because she is that bad. The home office needs improvement, but someone out of their depth just shouting at people isn't going to do it. Problem is all the competent politicians aren't in Boris's cabal.

Even cutting deals that are better for the other countries than the loaded EU jobs....
Twatter again .... its becoming a guilty pleasure.

Without wanting to offend the, I'm sure, upstanding citizens of Suriname......should point out that Suriname's entire global exports in a given year (~$2-3b) equate to approximately what we import from the EU every two days......

If what I read on Wikipedia is true about their major industries, then increasing our trade with Suriname would mean Brits eating a lot more shrimp and bananas.

I'm up for that, if everyone else is?

And the other 12 countries in the deal?

It also appears our deals with other countries are far more equitably balanced to enable the partner countries to benefit..... isn`t that what the wealthy nations should be doing?
