Clare can't be recalled, only players with non league teams, etc Woking, which is why the club are keen to lend to Woking.
Has anyone seen the youngsters recently to know if any are ready to make the step up in the coming weeks. Or of an out of contract player, that can step straight up, and is match fit, like Josh McEachran who has just signed for MK Dons.
Disappointed that while we need experienced centre mid we have missed out on an ideal signing .

Is that a new rule? I seem to recall in the past that loanees to us were recalled by EFL teams?

With respect to the squad/salary cap: was that scrapped with immediate effect or would we still need to consider it?

Have watched a fair bit of Woking this season. Napa doing well coming back from injury. Lofthouse playing right wing back (played on the left a match or two ago) has pace and reasonable defensively (against some poor attack) - doesn’t look ready to make an immediate impact a league one (in my opinion!).

To add, not sure the value of dragging Lofthouse/Napa back (not sure where Spasov is atm - doesn’t appear around the Woking squad and haven’t seen injury mentioned. If he is fit, he’s being kept out by Jonte Smith and a 17yo Jayden Waring) if they just become bench fillers. Might as well keep them at Woking getting minutes before seeing if contracts get extended in the summer.

The one most likely to make the step is probably Chambers-Parillon. Already around the squad, has played senior mins this season, a profile that we need in midfield but didn’t get too many minutes on loan due to covid. He makes the most sense

I can't see Napa getting a new contract but I do hope for him personally that he can get a contract offer at Woking or another NL club. I also think he needs to go somewhere else permanently for his own sake/career.

An enthralling match. Rose (ie) coloured specs, perhaps, but I fully expected us to ‘nick it’.
Just one little bit of good luck would have done it.

As it turned out two good teams battled it out for a deserved draw. but I found I couldn’t look away. Shame about the injuries...

Well done all. More of that commitment please.

I've no doubt this is correct, and it's a shame.

I don't know if anyone has noticed - but Burton have won 5 of their last 6, and have climbed right out of the relegation zone, having previously looked doomed. Obviously JFH gets most of the credit for that (especially given how God awful they looked when we played them, the day he was taking over)......but I also notice that Sean Clare has played in every one of those wins. And always in the midfield, never at RB.

It's all hindsight, but the decision to loan Clare out looks like one of KR's bigger mistakes this year. He would have been a great option for a position where we really don't have any good ones right now!

Yes I noticed that and it's great that Clare is obviously contributing to their revival. Big mistake to let him go.

With regards Gorrin.....I'm probably biased because I love good defensive midfielders.....

But whilst it was frustrating to see him constantly turning back to pass, I understand why he's doing it for three reasons:

1) Peterborough were one of the best sides we're going to play this season, so it was crucial to hold on to the ball and starve them of possession yesterday

2) Gorrin's role is primarily defensive - to snuff out opponents attacks. And he is awesome at it. Once he gets the ball, anything positive he does with it is gravy.....but basically he should just be keeping it simple and moving it on as soon as possible. Creativity is not his job.

3) Our front four is such a mess right now. The movement isn't wonderful and hold up play is terrible. When we've been playing well over the last couple of years, there's been a ton of off-the-ball movement and a number of forwards in good form, hungry for the ball. I don't see that at the moment. Our forward players are often not in a lot of space, and when they get the ball in a tight spot, they're losing it. So I can 100% understand why Gorrin wants to play it safer, and keep playing triangles with Moore, Atkinson, Brannagan and the full backs in the hope that something will open up........

Yeah but at the time we had half a dozen wide right players! You can only make decisions based on the information you have at the time

Is LCP back in Oxford training with the squad? I'd loooove to see him featuring in the next few weeks, he made a big positive impression on me in the Forest Green PPJT game.

4: He's been told to by KR.

Part of the rationale for Clare going to Burton (given that there wasn't a space in the 22 man squad back then) was that he would be effectively be helping Oxford by being a force against the teams above us. Burton have gone onto beat Charlton and Hull, with Peterborough, Lincoln, Portsmouth, Donny and Accrington still to play - let's hope he scores against every one of them.....

Would I be outrageous to suggest we recall Sean Clare? With McGuane gone, Kelly AWOL, Lee a tad crocked and Henry with a nagging injury, we have a right-side midfield problem (I don't think Sykes can carry every game in that position - he is solid but not always effective). Clare has demonstrated both in the few minutes KR allowed him to play there and since he has been at Burton that he is a creative midfielder who can open up defences. I say this in part because I sponsor his kit home and away and having lost Shandon who I sponsored last season half way through, I'd like to see some value for money! Actually I don't care about that but I do worry that we have prematurely discarded a pretty decent player.
I expect that we can't recall him

Sorry have I missed something....Kelly has gone AWOL or was it because he wasn’t in the squad
Yesterday?

Not saying that Gorrin has been told by KR to keep passing backwards - but he may well have been instructed that keeping possession at all costs is the most important thing right now. It's not the worst thing when your entire forward line (possibly barring Agyei) is struggling for form.
