Can you imagine players of today being allowed, not only to drink this stuff, but parade it around the ground ?
I cant believe we actually won anything,541933638.jpg.. When the players were bloated from drinking this shite !!

Not quite the same but a lot of endurance athletes drink flat coke during events basically using it as an energy source. Good for settling the stomach too. Good for a quick injection of sugar too if you’re depleted after sport.

I doubt it’s used in football these days but you never know what’s in some of those water bottles I guess.

60s and 70s top level professional footballers were more or less encouraged to drink copious amounts of alcohol

..... Chelsea FC & QPR of the late 60s early 70s are prime examples, though most were on the 'sauce' at all levels of football

Osgood, Hudson, Stan Bowles and the great George Best all on it and all great players

Having spent a few Sunday lunchtimes in they're company those cans are probably full of vodka and not fizzy stuff

I have it on good authority that Chippy dropped a player from his then Northampton team for not taking part in a team drinking session.

To be fair, if he dropped them from not attending then that is fair enough in my view. A lot of players these days don't drink but team nights out or days out at the races can sometimes be more important to team moral than any training session can be.
