Do we need a board of directors?

Or even should we have a board? It appears that only Tiger and DE are left to form anything resembling a board, hardly sufficient to form a quorum, should one be required.
I am guessing that directors will be appointed, possibly new investors?

I wondered this yesterday when I posted in the KR thread. I’ve got absolutely no idea but get the feeling we may see a new ‘Tiger’ Board of Directors who will bring in money. I think it must be one of the things used to sell the club to KR, surely??

Whether they’ll be whiter than white Mother Theresa types I have no clue...

Under DE the Board became pretty much an irrelevance. Free tickets and lunches on Saturday. Of course, Jones and Dolt stepped up to the plate to find Pep - cheers, guys! - but other than that the club was effectively run by DE's PA.
Of course a Board can be useful in providing free additional volunteer expertise. But you are going to need local people with free time and relevant capabilities (as used to be the case in the 50s, 60s and 70s)
This line about 'additional investment'. I may be wrong, but I do not think it is happening. Tiger spent the thick end of six months looking for it, having concluded his deal with DE back in the autumn. In the end he couldn't find any, but chose to save his non-refundable deposit by holding his nose, closing his eyes, loading the business up with debt and doing the deal anyway.
The shadowy fixers that Myles discovered never seem to take equity in any club they are involved in. They take fees OUT but put nothing in.
In general, we have to understand that - even before Darryl gave himself the rights to future player sales - OUFC is not a prospect for minority financial investment.
Dear old Dave spent months peddling thus line (obviously fed down from oxvox) that DE wasn't selling out in a rush!! Hell no!!! He was simply seeking an investor partner to help him 'take us to the next level.' But if you wanted to chuck money into a massively loss-making lower league club, why would you not just go and get your own and ensure that your money be spent as you direct. There are always plenty on the market.
The primary reason to own these types of clubs is "trainset syndrome' rather than because it is a sensible use of 10 million quid in purely financial terms.
So my best guess is that the chap with the bow tie is what we have and what we are going to keep. He and his friends could not afford Reading between them (despite making a profit out of it) so here is hoping that Tiger can afford 2 million quid a year here on his own. If some misguided soul decides to take some of that burden off him (in return for what?) then great, but let's not hang our hat on that hope.... unless someone else can be found who can be super impressed by an open-top bus tour of the City.

Now that his PA is not involved, who is running the club? Charlie

Cheryl, she pretty much did everything. Her and DE was effectively joined at the hip!

Charlie, serious question(s) about David Jones. He always struck me as a fairly switched on fella, clearly massively connected through his media work. What I could never really understand is why he aligned himself so closely with DE and for so long?. He would have been privy to the all the grubby goings-on during DE's tenure and was at risk of having his own credibility questioned? I guess this is why he has now relinquished his senior role within the Club and stepped away from the man with the bow tie?

Having read Charlie's post is anyone else thinking FC United of Oxford? Just in case, like!

Fair enough and I have no real reason to disbelieve what you say. What I would be interested to know is how the club has been sold to KR for him to join us.

If all is roughly accurate then he’s just left one basket case for another probably with even less finances.

Be good to see a share issue and a couple of wealthy U's fans on the board.

What a sad bitter little man you really are! After months of telling us about dodgy Thai asset strippers taking over a basketcase of a club, we now appear to an owner who is independently able to entice a highly regarded manager away from a bigger club.

Robinson is no idiot. He has been in the game long enough to know what he is getting in to, and has walked away from a certain pay off from Charlton and plenty of interest from other clubs to take up a post at Oxford. Either we are paying him loads or he feels he can get success - both of which suggest that Tiger is not scratching around for every penny.

I genuinely hope that Tiger and KR bring huge success to our club, not only for the benefit of Oxford United, but also that it will push you and your chums further back into your sad little boxes.

Boards need Directors to bring balance and input to decision making.
Failing that, Tiger will need to bolster the CEO and administration back room to ensure the club operates to his requirements, during his time away at his base in Bangkok

Says the man who put a bet on us to be relegated this season. Just shut up you bitter little man.

Charlie, you will have obviously spent a lot of time in the company of Eales and the other directors. Did you ever take the time to offer them your thoughts in person?

Oh give it a rest will you?

Sick of this petty nonsense.

This all smacks of folk who hate anyone who can articulate and has a vocabulary greater than their own.

Can we have a separate thread on Bazzer’s requirements?

1. Strikers. Able to shoot from 30 yards.
2. Watch. For Tiger.
3. Fans forum at a sensible time.
4. …
