Since the powers that be wanted to keep the topic of transfers to just that and with Northampton spoiling the fun today (boooo) and with precious little else to do, I thought a thread of it's own to conclude @brassmonkey's nostalgic run down memory lane of ex-players from A to Z would be in order.

Put forward from various posters so far:

A
Best: Aldridge (Atkinson x 3 in here too)
Worst: Anthrobus

B
Best: Beauchamp, Byrne, Briggs
Worst: Brevett, Burnell, Buckley-Ricketts, W. Biggins

C
Best: Cadden, Cassidy, Colin Clarke, Curran, Constable, Caton
Worst: Carruthers, Cain, Jake Cole, Dave Collins, Capaldi (I'm putting forward Andy Campbell here too - we signed him for three months on loan and gave up playing him after one)

D
Best: Durnin, Dickie
Worst: E. Diaz, Dempster, Deegan, O'Neill Donaldson, Druce, Doudou

E
Best: Elliott, Ceri Evans
Worst: E'Beyer, Paul Evans (knackered and unfit pro who briefly played for us in our third season in the Conference)

F
Best: B. Ford, M. Ford, Foley, Foyle
Worst: Fear, Futcher

G
Best: Jordan Graham, Gilchrist
Worst: Gabbiadini, Phil Gray, Gaston, John Grant, Gnanduillet, Guatelli, Gnohere, Grebis, Franny Green

H
Best: Hebberd, Houghton, Hamilton
Worst: Hatswell

Onto 'I' if anyone can think of any at all ... Carlin Itonga who played no matches maybe ... David Icke?

Out of Icke, Ireland (cancelled contract because his accommodation was not up to scratch), Itonga and Zeli Ismael you'd have to be fair and say Ismael is both the best and worst as at least he made six appearances, unlike anyone of the others.

On to "J":

Best: Jemson and Judge
Worst: Jakubiak and Jeannin

K

Best Jon Jo Kenny

Worst Dave Kitson, massive ego but shot by the time he played for us

I quite enjoyed watching Kits play, you could tell he still had quality but I don’t think he really gave a sh*t, was more a bit of fun for him I think

Worst no one really stands out?

Joel Ledgister for me. I thought he’d be really exciting and yet he seemed good at absolutely nothing.
Nope. Was past it but had one or two good games. Jeannin absolutely nails this. Appalling attitude.

Agree. Johnson was evidently in his later years but not particularly bad. Likewise Brevett and Santos from that era too. Jim Smith seemed hellbent on signing fullbacks as old as he was!

Good player. Stinker of an attitude. We have players here who cannot wait to get on the field like Brannagan and Ruffels and compare him with Kitson who would jeopardise the team to get off the pitch. He tried so hard in a Boxing Day game against Plymouth to get booked that he deliberately gave away a penalty and then ran around fouling anybody who came near him to get a ban. Horrible bloke.

H - What about 'The Hibernator'? Hoban

Kitson was a good player, but absolutely nowhere near as good as he thinks he was. You read the secret footballer books and think it’s a player who has achieved loads at the top of the game, then you find out who it is and it’s a bit of a head scratcher, he had a half decent season in the prem then flopped at Stoke after a not that big transfer fee before shooting back down the leagues. He was hardly Jamie Vardy in going from non league to genuine achievement.

Once here he mostly swanned about in midfield even though he was playing upfront, slagged Appleton and Eales off for getting rid of him as soon as they could but Appleton knew he was a wrong un and understands football on a level that the faux intellectual never will.

George Long...awful keeper is one thing, but awful keeper who thinks he's the nuts AND contrives to get his loan cancelled AND acts like a grade-A w*nker every time he comes back here? No contest for me.

H - What about 'The Hibernator'? Hoban

I liked Pat Hoban. He was utterly selfless at times and funnily enough paired rather well with Roofe. That lovely knockdown for him away at Bristol Rovers was great.

He never became the goalscorer we thought he would be though despite all those goals in Ireland. His time here was rather summed up by his miss in the first JPT area final leg against Millwall where he hits a neat volley perfectly across the keeper only to see it go inches wide.

Onto M’s ...

'Worst' for me is always a player who doesn't seem to give a sh!t and never gives his all. I can forgive a player with little ability who does his best, but one with talent who just swans about .... bleugh.

His anticipation was dreadful!
