Hopeless command of the rules of football....failed to give much deserved yellow cards for cynical fouls until too late on (and nothing for shirt pulling ) to pompey players ...clare kicked all over the park, yet conned and booked him.... all the consistency of a glass of helium

He couldnt not give the pen ...maybe shouldve awarded us a 2nd pen too?

Weak and very poor i thought . 3 from me

Inclined to agree but gave him a four. Better than so many refs that we get in this division.

Out of depth and consistent with referee's now 6-0-0 individual record with pompey. Im guessing he's local.

1st half i was close to saying he was at least consistently wrong but 2nd half that unravelled quick.

Clare booking scandalous given what clare endured 1st half from brown. Three yellow cards for fouls on clare not given in 1st half that were clear yellows by the law.

Clare literally didnt challenge or touch Curtis by clear daylight with both feet on floor.. Curtis theatrics were everything that was wrong with football.

Pompey cynical and systematic tactical fouls not identified by referee which is giveaway that he's not up to job

Got big decisions wrong. Our penalty looked dubious. Later penalty claim a clear penalty. Two mongs don't make a right.

Hopefully an assessor was there tonight because that wasnt up to standard.

Almost every decision he made was wrong.

Porstmouth committed multiple fouls and got away with it. He then booked Sean Clare for a foul which was no worse than about four which had been dished out on him personally. It’s so infuriating when there’s no consistency.

He was right to not give Portsmouth a penalty but he should have booked Harrison for diving.

Our penalty wasn’t a penalty, but we should have had one after.

Poor performance.

I thought he was one of the poorest I've seen for a while. Didn't give yellows when he should, did give them when he shouldn't, a lot of poor decisions and inconsistency. Worse than the last one (who I said was below average and gave a 4) - so a 3 from me.

A poor 4 from me.
The "highlight" was Clare who got clattered 3 or 4 times & nothing. Puts one back, gets a yellow.

Although, in his defence, some of the fouls do get a bit "theatrical" which doesn`t help the ref doing his job in real time.

wasnt there some sort of FA rule about 'local' referees not officiating matches involving 'local' ( top 5 division) clubs?

What is classed as local? He is from a different county after all. Ok Middleton on Sea is only a 30 min drive from Fratton Park.

Hasn’t Mike Dean officiated some of the Victims game’s despite living on the Wirral?

I am guessing you mean Liverpool when you say ‘victims’?
What does it matter considering 1, Mike Dean is a Tranmere fan and 2, Liverpool isn’t in the Wirral.

Seemed incredibly biased and inconsistent, not surprised to see his closest home town FL club is Portsmouth, and that was the first game in 6 he didn't referee a Pompey win.
We did very well to grab a point!

Tbf, he gave us a penalty which wasn't exactly clear cut.

True, but didn't give us one that was nailed on. Absolutely hopeless as a ref, and his booking of Clare was outrageously bad given what he'd let go with a little "chat" earlier.

No doubt. I just don't think it is bias, more he is a bit rubbish. His name rang a bell as an awful ref from previous matches but I could be mixing him up with somebody else.

I thought it was pretty clear, bundled into his back without getting near the ball

Ha! I thought it was because he had his standing leg knocked!

(Only real-time and single iFollow replay view, not re-watched highlights or anything)

I thought the penalty he gave was nailed on, the defender took Agyei's ankle. I gave him a 3, which is generous given his failure to book one of a selection of Pompey defenders who richly deserved it. His demeanour was fairly convincing, though, hence the high mark.

I'm convinced he had left his cards in the dressing room for the first half

If he was bias though, he wouldn't have given it so incompetence/not very good rather than favouring Pompey.
