Manager/Coach Karl Robinson

I think KR said that we had something like 7 players expecting children. That is an exceptionally high number for any team.

Newsflash! Chaps have been siring offspring since... What, the dawn of time?! This is not news.

Newsflash!! It's unusual to have so many at one time, and during covid there are additional complications. The original Crewe game showed how easy it could have been for our players to have picked up an infection, and then take it home to their wives/partners who will likely be in the high risk categories.

That can put a huge pressure on players and may impact on their overall wellbeing, and that can impact on their performances.

Not saying it's the only reason we've not been playing well, but it certainly won't help.

That explains why our players didn't get anywhere near their Crewe counterparts in the last game!

Listen, I'm as woke, feminist and lib-tard as they come. But this is BS.

There's no evidence that pregnant women are more likely to get seriously ill from coronavirus.

Playing players out of position, a grossly unbalanced roster of playing staff due to poor re rucruitment and lack of tactical nous from the Gaffer are the main reasons for our P**s-poor start.

This is an argument worth consideration.

Maybe not more likely to get it, but pregnant women getting ill with anything is not a great idea, let alone something not seen before, so I can imagine most prospective fathers are particularly nervous about passing this on to their wives...
Anyway, wasn't the reason the Crewe player took the private test the fact that his wife was pregnant?

The painful truth is that much of the problems that KR has faced or is continuing to face this season are ones of his own making;

- The naivety of not attempting to replace our best defender, if not best player from last year, all while one of our other central defenders gets ever older

- Signing players like Rob Hall on an extended contract for a reason I’m yet to be able to comprehend, he struggled to start in a L2 squad last season and was facing injury problems of his own too. Struggle to understand the Kelly loan too, he showed last season he wasn’t hugely effective

- Obsessing over the signing of wingers, most of who look to be a downgrade on last years Brown or even Holland

- Continuing to play players out of position regardless of the obvious fragilities of these players in these positions

So as much as the Egg and the rest of the blind positivity brigade might want to conclude our failing are mostly down to an odd set of circumstances this year, coupled with personal issues, I’d have a lot more sympathy for that argument if the above weren’t quite obvious more damning issues.

Said many times it's about opinions so why the need for a Blind Brigade label because someone has a different opinion?

I would suggest Atkinson was considered the replacement for Dickie who btw was also young----is this not our model? Another Matt Elliott in waiting

Kelly = The forum was full of hope that he would rejoin us

Downgrade of wingers = Browne and Holland came from much bigger and higher up the pyramid clubs, if we could not get them back what were you expecting....I would suggest as i've stated before that Cooper will be the next Joey Beauchamp.

Players out of position = as sort of been forced upon us with a combination of injuries

We have some double standards on here that always rear it's head because we lose a game of football.....Cooper should have played yet Atkinson is too young and raw...Some say Sam Long is a s**t right back, he has shown that he is more than capable of covering anywhere across the back 4 BUT now comes a cry to put him back at right back.

x y z is s**t but lose a game without them and why was x y z not playing.

as i said a game of opinions and those are mine

I like the opinions , do agree with some...Joel Cooper is nowhere near a Joey Beauchamp......a decent prospect yes but that is optimistic to say the least !

The golden rule of this forum - the more a player doesn't play, the better he is thought to be

To be fair Cooper hasn’t been given a run in the side yet and what I’ve seen I would be totally confident in him starting a match

We have two modes, the slightly slow, predictable one with too many passes, and the tigerish, harrying side who plays wonderful fast counter attacking football once they’ve won the ball. The makeup of the team doesn’t seem to make much difference, it’s which mode they’re in, and for whatever reason theyve been in the first mode since the initial lockdown ended. Robinson has to work out how to get them back to mode two!

Mode 1 for those that like to sit back so the emphasis is on us to open them up perhaps

Mode 2 for teams more like us that want to play attacking football normal when we are away but also against certain sides at home.

we have forum members say all those shots nothing to show for it followed by don't look like or never create anything.

I bet there are more managers reserved than not about playing us because they are fully aware of what we are capable of.

I think it’s more that we need to be fired up and hard working - for some reason we seem to have lost that energy and determination

TBF. If Cam and Henry were both fit and on form we would see much more of the fast counter attacking style. Last season Fosu and then Browne/Holland thrived on the speed of thought of those two when they were on form. Of course you also have to have the speed and quality those three players had to execute the counter. We are also missing a bit of that. At the moment we look slow and ponderous to mount an attack mainly because of who there is to pick from. If Agyei was full of confidence instead of being knocked back all the time I think he could be useful on the counter. Just my opinion.

I have to say Scotch, this seems an incredible attempt to find an excuse for our poor performances.

Are you also underperforming at work? You do have a difficult working environment after all.

I've seen a number of good people who have struggled, and I know that in April when dealing with confirmed cases that I really struggled with my own mental health having chosen to isolate from my family for a number of weeks to protect them. I have also got a member of staff who is usually 100% reliable but is really struggling with his partner heavily pregnant. He is terrified that he will put his unborn child at risk.

I've said that covid isn't an excuse, but it is a contributing factor, and one we shouldn't ignore.

Has he asked anyone about that? I have heard absolutely nothing about pregnant women or the unborn being at any risk. It might put his mind at ease.
