There was time not to snatch at it, and potentially shank it. That is why I didn't have the issue with him letting the ball run across him. However, once he has done that, he needs to finish. Lift the ball into the roof of the net and no one stops it. Dink it over the defender and it's a goal. Take another touch, the defender is already committed to sliding in, and he rolls it in to an open goal. A little composure and he scores, regardless of which foot he looks to use.

As a striker for the last 20 years I’m going to say that what you’ve described are not the actions of a striker. And I hope it’s not the normal instinct of Agyei but a big one off error.

You see that space you whack it because you know how busy the box gets and how quickly you get closed down the moment you dither. Shooting early wins every time.

One thing that I did notice last night is we have a habit of shooting low and first time when the goal is gaping. Both Sykes and Agyei were guilty of it. Either take the touch and make the defender commit to one area and roll it in or take the risk and put your foot through it knowing if it’s on target the defender has no chance.

I tend to agree with that.
Agyei looks to be better coming in from the flanks to me.
He clearly has potential but he isn't that young and sometimes his decision making is very poor.

Especially with an open f*****g goal!

Whenever I miss a sitter I always tell the rest of my team it wasn’t an easy chance but merely a complex and transient window of opportunity created by my own great positional play. ???‍??

Seriously though it’s amazing how many more goals you get by just pulling the trigger at earliest opportunity.

+ keeper can’t get set
+ defender has less time to recover, close the angle or put you off balance
+ ball is likely to end up in a less advantageous position or bobble
+ you have less time to overthink it and do something daft. Rely on instinct and physical memory
+ other defenders are less likely to start entering the sphere of impact and influence

Just flippin ping it lad!

Please relay those points to the team in your video ahead of this weekends game!

You're much more generous than I saw it!

Eastwood 6 - Barely had anything to do but positional questions over the second goal
Clare 5 - Horrifically bad for the first goal, defensive liability but grew into the game
Moore 7 - Solid game at the back
Atkinson 8 - Great run for the first goal and kept the MK Dons attack quiet before his injury
Ruffels 6 - Some poor moments throughout the game but kept involved
Gorrin 6 - Showed a bit of rust with some lax passing but shielded the defence fairly well
Sykes 7 - Probably our hardest worker but made some needless fouls and from a bright start faded
Forde 7 - Some great deliveries, helped on the defensive side and involved in some of our most promising moves
Henry 6 - Very quiet night on the ball, but after KR's tactical changes grew into the game
Taylor 7 - Must be a nightmare to play against. Took his goal well and constantly on the wind-up
McGuene 6 - Scuffed assist and bright start but another who disappeared from the game

Agyi 6 - Missed an absolute sitter
Long 7 - Took his headed goal well and did a good job filling in
Shodipo 7 - Loves a step over (not necessarily a good thing) and took his goal exceptionally well
Moore gets away with FAR too much. He’s been poor all season so far

This is why the old fashioned toe punt is worth a go every now and then as little backswing is needed to get good power in a shot and gives the keeper little time to set/react. Would have been perfect for Agyei with that chance if he had taken it immediately.

I find that I have to become as one with the goal. It's a Zen thing ;)

Much better today, shaky at the back still but created some real chances to kill the game sooner too. Unlike a few on here who just seem to look at our shot statistics and think "loads of chances wow!" Despite half of them being blocked, outside the box and barely half chances on Saturday!

Hopefully a good confidence boost ahead of the derby

Hark at Tommy Lawton there...

I’m no Andy Whing I’m afraid ?

Just watching this again From a new angle I really think Eastwood could get a hand to their second. He almost collapses on himself.

Agyei miss looks even worse.

And I love how Taylor tries to stop the goalie getting back into position after he comes out to head the ball leaving an almost empty net

This may surprise but this actually our best start to a season under KR!
First 6 games:
2018/2019. - 4 points (1W1D)
2019/2020 - 5 points (1W2D)
2020/2021 - 6 points (2W)
Absolutely shocking!!
You have to ask why because its not a coincidence. There is only one common connection.
