Ex Player Ex-Player Thread

He wasn’t great here, but he has since gotten better. Clearly. Tyler Roberts wasn’t good for us but is now a Premier League player and regular starter for Wales.

It happens.
Tyler Roberts looked decent(ish) for wales imo

Alex Fisher has just equalised for Exeter at Southend in 5th of injury time. Finshed 2-2.

Tony Martinez going to make his champions league debut tonight. Crazy to think that, but best of luck to him!

Should never have let him go.

Shocking ambition from the club.

Conor McAleny scored twice for Oldham

159 senior career appearances and 37 goals. 10 of those were in a four month spell with us. He’s 28 now too.

Weird how he looked a world beater when we had him back in 2017. He’s started well at Oldham but I wonder whether he’s had a career that should have offered a lot more.

And all because he wouldn’t leave his mums Sunday dinners up north. If he’d joined us he could have carried on progressing

Seems a missed opportunity for him his career stalling so badly.

McAleny not leaving the Liverpool area has nothing to do with him being a mummy’s boy. He’s a very switched on guy who used his big wages at Everton to set up multiple businesses in the area over the years, so he’s always wanted to stay close to them bar the odd loan move for a few months. He’s one of those footballers who isn’t in love with the game, he just does it for a job, and there are a lot of them.

He is a smart guy who has always known that there is a life outside of, and indeed beyond football. His priorities are different and I’m sure that when he retires in a few years he will look at all his profitable businesses and go, “Yeah... I’ve played this the right way.” There’s no lack of ambition from him - those ambitions simply go far beyond kicking a ball around.

Oh OK! Shows how easy it is to judge and stereotype I guess.

Good luck to him...a reminder though that Guatelli, Hoban and Twigg played Champions League and Andre Arendse played in the World Cup Finals. It isn't always a marker of quality.
