Potential New Ground

I struggle to think of anything that he‘s insinuated or hinted at having any sign of coming to fruition as yet. I might as well listen to a well meaning U’s supporting mate of mine down the pub. That might be being unfair, Im sure hes under all sorts of restrictions, but Ive just given up listening to any of them when it comes to the stadium, after around two years of ‘tit-bits’.

Nothing personal

Perhaps the lack of hints, insinuations or titillations should convince you of his attitude and approach to this task. It’s the harder path to tread.

His words tonight were, to my ear, chosen carefully, as, in his case, are all his words.

I honestly believe that, without covid, we would have had a stadium deal in place by now. The fact that knowing that the stadium question would come up, and that we've batted it back for several months, NMcW gave such a positive response is significant in my view.

Really? After the total lack of progress for years and years - suddenly the pandemic is the reason nothing has happened, and without it there would have been a deal? I like your optimism, but doubt your realism.
The lack of progress was down to owners who had neither the finances nor the experience to make this happen. Tiger, and more importantly, the other board members have both. The pandemic is the reason why things slowed, but things were very much happening before and these comments suggest that further progress is on the cards.

We won’t be moving. It will be a cheaper deal at Grenoble Rd. Whilst moving would be bloody lovely I just can’t see it happening.

It won't be a cheaper deal at Grenville Road overall.
Do you realise that we are dealing with Kassam?

If the Pandemic has slowed things down, then given the state the games is in and clubs begging the premier league for a handout what possible incentive or reasoning would there be to continue plans for a new stadium?. The current stadium is barely 1/2 full with Home support as it is and as i've said so many times before, the sides in The Championship are no great attraction to either the current attendees the floating fan or much needed new one's.
Many believed that had we gone up that we would have struggled and possibly come back down and those that rarely attend now would not hang around after relegation even if you got them there in the first place so you'd be left with a shiny new stadium 2 3rds empty at best.

You'd think a pandemic, a worldwide pandemic and slowing economies, would be a great time to strike for big property deals. Assuming those are 'ready to strike'. Anyone in the commercial property game would recognise that.

it apparently is a buyers market , certainly in property @Brahma .... good friend of mine is involved in New build house sales, an absolute rarity pre lockdown , yet common place in recent weeks, £30k ( or more) discount off asking prices on new build houses ( over £500k) is fairly common place atm in the home counties areas and 'shires

In our neck of the woods quite the opposite, with gazumping returning as the WFH brigade realise that the countryside is preferable to the suburbs.

Locals with young families looking at upsizing are losing out to those happy to use their equity to get a place in the country

Forgive me if this has either been mentioned before, or is implausible... but what about the area of land between the A34 and the train tracks just outside of the city centre (south west of) ?

I'm sure there is no one size fits all scenario. We are also in the happy position of being an easy commute to Central London, so win win for those that may still need an office trip every so often.
