Thought the chances created were pretty even. Ruffels missed our best chance with the free header. Difference being we made 2 defensive errors, they didnt.

Just to note, if players werent free agents yesterday, they cant move as a free agent. So not entirely sure where Robbo is planning to send all his duds.
Legit question.

If they’re “free agents”, is it our problem where they’re “sent to”..? If they’re paid out until the end of their contract, and no longer registered to play for Oxford United FC by the registration deadline, what business of ours is it where they are next employed?

The greater questions in my eyes are...
1. Would this somehow still count under the salary cap for the season? I worry it may do.
2. Could Tiger afford an additional salary he hasn’t budgeted for? And the answer is, of course he could, he owns half of south-east Asia, but it’s whether he would do so when that appears to reflect purely on mistakes that Karl has made.

in reality, I’m sure if a contract could be paid up and cancelled for Jamie Hanson and someone different brought in then I’m sure we’d all accept this tomorrow. Possibly Robbie Hall too, but I note his was extended last year and he appears to be part of Karl’s plans.

If you were Jamie Hanson, and we offered to pay up 70 percent of your contract, and you couldnt sign for another football league club, why would he do that?

Its a total non starter. Players would agree to that prior to deadline to get the wheels in motion. After it, in this economic climate, theyd be mad to. Karl is going to have to come up with more excuses for his s**t recruitment, as this is going to be impossible to fix before January.

Prove that then?
The two they scored were very good chances that they converted. The two Clarke-Harris chances in the first five minutes were very good chances that he should have done better with and Eastwood saved a point blank header in the second half. That’s five proper chances just from memory with a 40% conversion rate.

Radio Oxford stated that our chances were half-chances.

He doesn’t, I think you’re confusing him with some of our other shareholders.

Wards chance was the most clear cut but Peterborough’s second was basically the same as Taylor’s one that was saved.as for the others did their player even get the shot on target?cant really remember that Eastwood saving those.

A massive lack of confidence, some awful bad luck and injuries, some misguided recruitment and so many distractions off the pitch. Jerome said he feels we need a scrappy 1-0 to really get us going. I think he's right. Scrappy point or even three on Tuesday followed by a confidence boosting demolition of the inbreds next week and the dreadful start will all be forgotten, just like last season.

What about the scrappy 4-1 away win at Accy?

Amazed we didn’t win then, strange.

"There's a lot of things I still want to do." kr still wants to bring in players. "Some players are not as good as we thought." Looks like certain players could/will be on their way out of the club.
If this is the case why not bring them in in the main window?

If that's referring to this summer, it can only really be about one or two players. Karl knew what he was getting with the likes of Taylor and Kelly, whilst Cooper and Winnall haven't had a chance to prove themselves yet and Osei Yaw was never signed as a starter. It has to come down to Clare and McGuane. Clare hasn't made the best of starts (but that can be said for the rest of the side), but by all accounts was much better today.

McGuane was someone who started the first few games of the season but now finds himself resigned to the bench for most games. Whilst I don't want to speculate too much, there's something that isn't right when you have a 21-year-old who went through the Arsenal and Barca youth systems (even training with their first team), was signed by Championship Nottingham and now can't get into the starting XI of a League One side. Because it's only a loan it's risk free, if it doesn't work then we can send him back in January. But I do hope he shows the kind of things here that saw him join two of the world's best academies.

And if that KR comment is referring to players who were already at the club, he clearly means Jamie Hanson. I don't like commenting on appearances, but as a professional footballer he looks like he's carrying a bit too much timber, and he's on the fringes of the side. Forde taking a central midfield place ahead of him is a surefire sign that he's only here to make up the numbers and he's not going to play a big part at the club in the future. We can still loan players out to National League sides, and I think we might do that in this case.

We could’ve done on another day.
And that’s the beauty of the game, I agree we could have won that game as there is a lot of luck in football but today for me 2-0 isn’t unfair based on the chances both sides had.

That would require Hanson’s agreement and a drop to the National League might not be to his liking.

Well I don’t think they deserved 2-0.that game could’ve been 1-0 either way.

Where does anyone say “70%”..?

I have suggested telling a player who has no chance of playing again for Oxford United, will not be registered to play for Oxford United, that they are being paid 100% of their contract , to leave the club and seek further employment now, whether in football or otherwise. So, to answer your question, why would he not do that?

If you have some knowledge of human resources, contract law and how it all works then I am all ears, as this is genuinely why I am asking the question. But something along these lines is being touted in the press, and so it is not all make-believe and certainly not a non-starter.

Well then it's up to him whether he stays here but doesn't play any games due to him not being registered, or him getting the same money to go out and play games of football, albeit in the non-league.

And that might be his problem all along , thinking he’s better than what he is

The lump sum that would be required to pay off the remaining 20-odd months of Hanson’s contract would make your eyes water. You might even let a little bit of wee out.

It was always the case previously that only players who were free agents when the transfer window closed could sign for another club before the next window. Otherwise players would be released only to magically sign for another club a day or two later all year long. Has that been changed in light of Covid?

The deal we made to bring him in was a horrendous one, no wonder we haven’t offloaded him to another club, as they could never get close to matching his wages

Ruffles wax terrible today, he was clearly targeted. But also had limited cover. Agyei did very little defensive work in support. Kelly simply isn’t fast, big or strong enough, he gets bypassed.

Peterborough knock it around well and are a good side. So it wasn’t a disaster today to lose. But the lack of OUFC nouse is becoming alarming. I can’t believe I am saying this but we are missing the shithouse.
