Gives people not strong enough to run something to do I guess... ?
As someone who isn't strong enough to run i agree

Its also a massively more lucrative industry than running. MAMILs with disposable income is a brilliant market to be selling tech in to. Pre COVID anyway.

What's alarming about this is that losing Dickie wasn't a surprise, it was expected. We've had a while to assess what we have at the back to see if we had enough, and KR even last week was like 'Yeah, we're fine for centre backs mate', even when we've been shipping in cheap goals and playing a right back at centre half. If one of the free agents he's looking at is a centre back then I (and probably loads of others) would definitely welcome it, but why has it taken so long for the coaching staff to realise this is a problem and why wasn't a direct replacement for our most important player last year not a priority?

Just when we thought we could put this thread to bed. So come on then, what free agents are out there currently?
Ben Heneghan, recently released by Sheffield United, on loan to Blackpool last season

KR said his squad till January has to be confirmed to EFL by Wednesday and that he wants 2 new players in.

And, equally important, which two players are going to get cut from the squad and consigned to the wilderness for the next few months?

McGuane has to be one, played the first couple of games and hasn’t played since.Asonganyi?hasnt played at all.

I think they need to be over 21. Pretty sure you can have as many U21s as you like in the squad so those two are fine to stay. I’m thinking the likes of Hanson and maybe Sykes..? Not that I would agree with the latter getting cut

Comparing what we lost to what we have gained isn't comparing eggs and eggs. You should compare it to our view of those players at the start of last season.

Dickie for example, hadn't yet had the season of his life at that point...

I think we've pretty much replaced like for like, and have had a bumpy start as an entire back line gets used to new players and positions, without our regular midfield destroyer in front to protect.

Just got to find our rhythm and...who knows...
Sorry but think you’re wide of the mark, like for like we are weaker, let’s hope the coaching staff improve, get the best out of the newbies

Just chucking 3 names out there Adrian Mariappa — Ryan shotton — Jackson Irvine that’s two experienced CB and a decent CM

Bloody well hope so
Don't worry, some of the valuations on the Dickie deal were insane!

To have bank £500k after giving Reading 40% would have meant a valuation of £850k which is ridiculous!!

I know this is "social media" and there's no reason to believe me or anyone else on here, but I wish people would stop and think for a second when posting stuff they've heard. Otherwise, others start believing it and before you know it we're seen as being soft in the transfer market, giving players away for nothing etc. That does a total disservice to those behind the scene who do remarkably well to balance the books and ultimately save our club from being one of the many who are praying for financial support.

Ryan Shotton would be a fantastic signing. I cant help thinking that with the players we have, a back three would be the way to go. Shotton would be perfect on the right of a back three, with Atkinson left and Moore in the middle. Then Clare could play more advanced as a wing-back which would suit his game far better. I also think Mous, when fit, would be more comfortable in a three.

It’s ok. I didn’t believe it.
