Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

I’d add Wigan, Plymouth, Rochdale to that aswell. When is the last time we started well? Under Pep Clotet and look how that turned out. We will be challenging for Play offs. We always start slow.

Exactly! There are plenty of teams that are worse than us. I forgot about Rochdale, but had to name ten. Plymouth for me will finish the highest of the promoted teams, but yes we should be miles ahead of them.

We won’t be going down. Or be anywhere near the relegation zone come the end of the season. Anyone that thinks we will be, well.. they need to give there head a wobble.

Right now a comfortable mid table would be my guess. But I think we will flirt with relegation for the first half of the season Deja Vu

Comparing what we lost to what we have gained isn't comparing eggs and eggs. You should compare it to our view of those players at the start of last season.

Dickie for example, hadn't yet had the season of his life at that point...

I think we've pretty much replaced like for like, and have had a bumpy start as an entire back line gets used to new players and positions, without our regular midfield destroyer in front to protect.

Just got to find our rhythm and...who knows...

You sound so defeated, like relegation is a nailed on certainty. We were effectively a goal away from promotion to the Championship only 3 months ago, and now you're suggesting we'll end up in the bottom four all because we've only lost two players of note? Sure, we haven't started the season well, but we had at least two poor patches of form last season and managed to still finish in third when the league was stopped. I know the start of the season hasn't been great to follow, but try to get some perspective.

Even the most positive fan accepts this as an inevitability under KR. Whilst it’s true it’s how you finish not how you start that eventually gives you your final position and momentum should you need it should you make the playoffs, any side genuinely serious about the top two spots shouldn’t need to be still ironing out errors.

The last completed season in 2018-19 saw the promoted clubs Luton and Barnsley lose only six and seven matches respectively. Wigan and Blackburn the season before lost six each. The season before that was six for Sheffield United and 10 for Bolton.

We’ve now lost three of our opening four. That’s 50% of our defeats if we regard what the champions of this division end up with. Just accepting it isn’t really good enough in my view as fannying around for 10 matches whilst we get into stride wastes a good quarter of the season. We need to get better as being right at it from the off.

Well just under 5 & 1/2
Hours to go
I can say with confidence that the following are worse than us.

Northampton
Blackpool
MK Dons
Bristol R
AFC Wimbledon
Crewe
Scum
Shrewsbury
Accrington
Burton

Thats 10, and I’d add Donny and Gillingham too. If we’d taken our chances last weekend we’d of won that. You can look at the table currently, and say yeah but we are in such an such position. I’m confident we will finish above all of them this season. Unless of course the season is ended early.

That's quite a bold statement to make.

Bang on, agree 100%

Absolutely. Does make you think what a blinding chance we had last season, with that squad we had. We simply haven't developed the squad into another promotion chasing team of 11, unless kr proves us wrong. It's games like today we need to show fight and get the three points, as we always seem to do away to the Posh COYY.

I have to say I’m underwhelmed with our signings so far, we’ve lost Dickie, Fosu, Baptiste, Whyte plus Brown and Holland, plus Mackie, the replacements have a lot to prove, time will tell, Kip has got a point tbf, surprised we haven’t signed on any young promising youngsters, we are running out a bit on players to sell on

So we lost Whyte 15 months ago, Baptiste and Fosu 10 months ago, Browne and Holland were never ours, and Mackie, love him, was on his last legs. So Dickie is the only real loss and one that brought us some much needed revenue in.

Of course the new signings have things to prove, they've only played a few games in a stop start and injury hit season to date.

Have a little patience and belief in the recruitment and coaching team that has got us this far.

KR has said this is the start of a new cycle. We are going to have to be patient.

Definitely and this should be put to the fans. We were by no means favourites last year and overachieved in my opinion. We drifted in and out of the promotion places and a neat little run going into the ‘end’ of the season helped us out. I mentioned at the time after the defeat to Wycombe that we’d lost to a team who had been in the top seven all season and only dropped out at the end as they didn’t have Bury to play. Some may argue that based on that, they may have been more deserving ...

For that reason, I’m struggling to see this as a promotion campaign. We’re not any stronger than last season. Atkinson looks a good development prospect, having Taylor is an excellent acquisition and Brannagan is a bonus. Outside of that, I think we have a team that is decent without being exceptional. It’s a transitional season and I expect some development prospects in the winter with Brannagan and Sykes being our cash ins next year.

It may well be not a good year to push for promotion. Who knows what a second wave of COVID could bring. Being financially prudent and ensuring OUFC exist come May 2021 is key for me.

i just don’t think our recruitment has been great this time around, we don’t seem to have bought in the quality apart from Winnall of course, really hope I’m wrong

I think they will be become good players but need a year to gain experience .

We got around £500,000 by all accounts for Dickie in the end after Reading had their 40% add on fees, I love your positivity Scotters but just don’t thing we’ve added enough quality this season, here’s hoping we start getting some points on the board soon

Massively wrong on the money for Dickie!
