2 over 60 year olds go to watch their local football league team play a home game ..... admission £48, to sit in a freezing cold wind tunnel, in danger of contracting hypothermia, cheap plastic seats with limited legroom, and all for the dubious pleasureof 110mins of collectively a manager, playing squad and chairman who dont give a flyingfuck about the substandard fayre on offer.

Contrastingly

2 over 60-year-olds go to the cinema in Oxfordshire (Cineworld Witney)...... full admission for 2 adults £21.20, however, it seems if you're over 60 the cost for 2 over 60-year-olds is £16.20! , for 152 minutes, which were spent in comfortable seats, plenty of legroom, and a warm dry environment with clean facilities, and very helpful and informative staff

Both OUFC and Cineworld are UK owned companies, one has a strong emphasis on customer service ...the other has seemingly nothing but contempt for paying customers

one had a mere handful of (as in less than 10)empty seats the other had more than 3000 empty seats ( when playing at home against the very free-scoring league leaders)

In many regions of England, concessionary prices apply to over 60s.... even the bullies and Dick Turpin descendants that run Wembley Stadium for last seasons Shaun Harvey trophy final offered concessions for over 60s!!!!! ..... conversely Slippery and his henchmen prefer to try to scam every last penny off Oxford United's loyal supporters without giving, it seems, anything back, not even a smidgen in terms of anything resembling value for money

What price loyalty and passion for your club ?
You pay your money you make your choices.

Choose whichever you want

In future though make s**t threads like this on the Cineworld forum
He does have a point though. Some grounds give concessionary rates to over 60's, some don't. In terms of the entertainment on offer then I would have to point out that football ought to be compared with a "live" show e.g. theatre, as opposed to the cinema. The cost of the "players" is a major cost. Of course, as season ticket holders, we have paid up front and therefore should have some expectations of the entertainment afforded us. Criticism is therefore only right and justified.

Chose both ...hence being able to make a first-hand comparison

I've seen countless chairmen and managers of Oxford United who I've watched, supported and followed over the years ever since the season the club name changed from Headington United

slippery and his yesmen cohorts are taking loyal supporters loyalty and their financial outlay for granted.... 20% increase on admission and ST prices allegedly to improve the squad for this season....that's really paying dividends now isnt it?..... you may be satisfied with the substandard 'product' served up currently at OUFC home and away games as good value for money Oxford boy, I'm not !

And biscuits , don’t forget the biscuits
Good news on the biscuit front! For a couple of weeks now a local bakery has supplied, free to lounge members, some very pleasant fresh baked biscuits.
It's what makes us old timers more mellow, you know?

Outrageous , next u will be telling me the bars will be reopened and serving pints

I shall be there on New Years Day, with my 35 years old son (guess my age if you must) and will be in the SSU. I shall mutter my into my flask of tea, voicing my informed observations of the ineptitude on display. Or, smugly smiling to myself think 'what fickle fools Oxford fans are, (as we are 6-0 up) this was all part of the master plan Darryl and Pep formed'.

The most likely scenario sees me stuck in an interminable queue attempting to to leave the Kassam and thinking 'what else could I have done with the money and time......?'

Perhaps OUFC could come to some agreement with Cineworld. Screen the match live at Marriott Close in Witney in the comfort of a bucket seat with loads of legroom and popcorn on tap. 59 year olds must pay full price though.

We support a league 1 football team. The football isn’t going to be dazzling week in week out. In fact you will get more average games than good games.
If you want garrenteed entertainment go and watch Man City but even then I’m not sure you will feel completely happy as they have plastic seats too and don’t play in a heated, indoor stadium.

Reading FC reduced their prices to £ 5.00 a game for the match against Burton Albion a few days back and had a massive increased attendance. I'm not making any points here other than just pointing out what a local club is doing for their fans.

Football thinks it can forever rely on the loyalty of the customer base. Well that is fine if the product on offer is fair and the price reasonable however it won`t wash for ever and they, particularly OUFC, really need to up the offer.

Having been an OUFC fan since 1961/62 my expectations have never been high, Im an Oxford United supporter I've experienced a few good seasons, many mediocre ones and a number of bad ones too. It's more intense than any marriage, friends, family and relationships may drift in and out of my life, but my team is forever, up the U's:) ..... I would seriously like to see even a few average performances as theyve been a bit thin on the ground this season! ..... what we were told the 20% hike in ST and matchday tickets was for , to improve the playiners/playing squad, has yet to bear any fruition, ..... comparing whats on offer under the (very loose when it comes to OUFC), entertainment description as in what you get for your hard earned cash in terms of facilities, between the breeze block and a cinema isnt a bad one in terms of time spent inside each, the qualityof facilities on offer and good old fashioned value for money .....granted OUFC pay an exhorbitant 'rent' to a moneygrabbing landlord- yet it seems OUFC ,in return for the rent, appear unable to even get the toilets there(breeze block) treated to an occasional splash of bleach, and maybe a mop n sweep once in a while for example! ..... the whole matchday experience, which was apparrently SO important to OUFC a few seasons ago to me is at an all time low. Personally I'd rather be stood on a terrace, than shoehorned into limited space seating areas, sooner safe standing makes a proper return to English football the better I believe. There again I believe football should be on a Saturday afternoon with a 3pm kick off, with no interfereance from Television tails wagging the dog.

Why would I want to go and watch ANY other team than Oxford United dennissmithswig? ... tell ya now, I wouldnt be happy watching Manchester City, too right I wouldnt be happy, Ive no affinity to them whatsoever! .....you may well be one of those very strange individuals who have 2(or more) teams that you have an interest in? ....Not me, I'm 100% Oxford United ONLY ....which is why the current situation with a once enthusiastic owner now showing, it seems , no enthusiasm or interest in the football club he owns, the same person who has misinformed the loyal supporters by claiming the 20% rise in ST/ match day tickets was to improve the playing squad, when clearly that hasn't happened...... Yep I'm disappointed with recent performances by the current team, yep I'm not convinced Clotet is capable as a League 1 coach, yep, I'm seriously frustrated byOUFC owners lack of interest in the football club that he owns. Despite all of which I'll continue to support my team ..... and voice concerns regarding how the club is being run ,both on and off the pitch too.

If slippery lets them moths free from out of his wallet, Clotet buys wisely in the January transfer window and the mighty U's go on a run of great performances with results to match, all of which are unlikely, but nonetheless possible, there would still be other issues that need attention OUFC wise .

come on sarge that's very unfair have you forgotten that the club are catering for the 20.000 extras who are on standby for their big day out without needing to worry about emails informing them that they might like to pop along on a regular basis.
not to worry though hey as you'll be loved again come july time and best start saving as your club needs you and we are United
