Hopefully no problems after Saturday's debacle with Covid-19, a win will see us through to the next round.

With the Crewe game postponed perhaps KR will field a strong team to keep the Accrington momentum going into next Saturday. There’ll always be the risk of new injuries of course but either way, it’ll also be interesting to see how many of the currently injured players make a return on Tuesday and feature at some point.

It may yet get called off if this rain persists

Given the status of the FL Trophy as a second third fourth rate competition....

...is this a legitimate chance to end our home hoodoo vs Rovers, or not?

Take any opportunity to beat them!

Whilst I can’t find the actual amounts for this year, I really don’t think we should be sniffing at the EFL Trophy. It’s one of two completions where we can actually make some money. £10k a win in the group stages could be vital for covering a month’s worth of testing or funding a few staff members wages.

If the prize money is the same as previous seasons, it’s better dedicating time to it than not.

Hopefully this is treated as a fitness booster only - don't want any injuries off the back of this pointless shite.

In the current climate its a bit less "pointless shite" to be fair, although I personally despise it and only drop my moral stance if we reach the final. :ROFLMAO:

In 2017-18 League One and League Two clubs received £20,000 participation fee plus money on results in the group stages.
EFL were giving out £10,000 for a win and £5,000 for a draw.
Again, if the numbers are similar, it’s a cheque for £20,000 for every team to win a "round of 32" tie after the group stage and then £40,000 in the last 16.
Any team winning a quarter-final earns £50,000 and then another £50,000 if they reach the final and lose.
The winners receive a cheque for £100,000.

Since there is no sponsorship for this competition this time out, do we actually *know* what the prize money is?

a competition , (thanks to the EFL inability to run a proverbial pissup in a brewery), that has alienated many fans of most lower league clubs, ( Wembley final excepted) yet club hierarchies have supported the current format- due to the £ on offer -( though is there actually a sponsor this season? leasing.com maybe? but it is EFL trophy without a sponsors name attached currently- if no sponsor presumably no prize money? ) which certainly for the group stages and knock out rounds way exceeded the zero prize £ for the carabao/league cup until semi-final/ final stages, - which has more 'kudos'

Majority of lower league club chairmen /owners are in favour of this distraction of a competition , bought off by the thirty pieces of silver prize money- but if there's no sponsor, there are no thirty pieces of silver on offer ? do EFL clubs still back this competition now?

the group game v Gasss tomorrow eve is one Id like the U's to win, but I wont be too concerned if we dont

Saturdays debacle v Crewe demonstrated how quickly a fixture pile up can be caused (again EFL ineptitude is a huge factor)
is this competition really necessary under the current climate is the question?

Where have you seen that? Everywhere I have seen it is referred to as the 'EFL Trophy' - our website, the BBC, the EFL itself (https://www.efl.com/efl-trophy/) etc...
yeah my bad. thought i read it was leasing.com sponsorship for 2 years but apparently not

‘The competition format remains unchanged, however, the title sponsorship with Leasing.com has come to an end so the competition will revert back to the EFL Trophy.’

Interesting to note that a drawn match is just that and the penalty shootout is for an additional point..... :)
